A bit lighter & cleaner than Grolsch but it is still malty and thin. View > beer.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
Holding in there; coffee is faded but it’s as chocolatey as ever 😋

Sweet, boozy chocolate and cherry roast. Very, very sweet. At least it’s not oily or thick like a The Bruery.

Tart, lush and very well balanced. Delicious. Thank you Will.

Delicious. Deep coffee & dark chocolate flavours. Still a reference for coffee stout for me. Delicious. Coffee wise the beans from Traffic (Montreal) are phenomenal. In my top-3 for roasters in Canada right now.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019)
Still, a bog standard BBA imperial stout any brewery should aspire to, at scale & price point. Roasted coffee bean, sweetish dark chocolate & just hints of caramel and coconut - still about the stout and not the barrel or diabetic sweetness. Holding up.

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2014)
Easily, the most disgusting cork I’ve ever seen. Oozy, inky black mold puddle 1/8” thick between the crown cap & cork. Mold in the cork. I drank it, still. Stunning: candied marmalade like fruit, herbal hop notes. Crushable as it’s more lush than sour.

Wow, this is a *nice* beer. It’s super clean and dry. Spruce mostly/spruce almighty 🌲with a bit of pine. Very boreal. Frank this is minutes. It’s really, really good.

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA
Hello - found you! Massive caramel, toffee, and British biscuit cookies with vanilla icing in between. Super tasty.

Half bottle, half nitro can. Drinkable as all hell; like a nitro pour. Don’t hate the player, hate the game 😂

Ghetto Péché Mortel Bourbon, on nitro. 2/3 KBS for body & flavour + 1/3 Guinness for smoothness and nitro. It’s cracker. Can I get a hell ya, Ronnie Falcon R. & Steven

Almost dead. Dry, drying, faint coffee and austere as it warms.

Haven’t had this on tap in ages. Delicious. Light, biscuity malt, almost British bitter like. Clean & balanced. Delicious.

Smells like roasted marshmallow & cacao. Quite grapey. Roasty on the palate, a bit smoky, great balance between the vinous cacao, smoke, roast and bitterness. Just a bit of sweetness to balance it all out. Very good beer. 👍🏻

Sweet and caramely at this point. More caramel than dark chocolate and the coffee is long gone. Drink up and she ain’t getting any better.

Loads of elderflower. Must be a full stem press/ferment since it’s got the florals and is super complex, and good. Super generous of Kayla.

Pure cherry; tart; great balance between fruit & funk

Cuvée Saint-Gilloise (Champions) (2015)
Some more tea notes with age, but the lemon zest & shiso leaf notes are still there. Zippy. Stone fruit galore. Lush & balanced. Many thanks Kayla!

Decent BBA stout, rich chocolate and coffee. Quite good, overall. But I like this at $4 a bottle not $8. Raining, yes, but it’s a gorgeous 19°C + the freshly damp greenery smells just amazing. Also a northern cardinal + a song sparrow are singing. 🙂

Loads of coffee. Very chocolatey. It’s nice but really one-note and caramely. Tastes like a Mondelez/CPG product.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
Pure, clean dark chocolate, toasted coconut, coffee up front and midway; turns caramel & cappuccino on the finish, and just so sweet, sickly cloying mess. Totally the opposite to the garbage BBA stuff Ontario breweries are turning out.

Gueuze-like. Tart berries & bone dry. Delicious. Thank you for the pull Alex B.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019)
The best bottle I’ve had, perhaps because it was in the back of the fridge since release. Pure dark chocolate, coffee & Bourbon barrel. My kind of session beer.

Raspberry syrup. This monk needs to get to Westmalle or Westreleven and stop worshipping Satan.

Faint funky cherry aroma. Light body; tastes about half as intense as it should. This marriage has been to a separation agreement.

Chocolate, coffee & coconut. Holding up really well. Maybe the best bottle of the ‘17 so far.

Such a great American IPA, day in and day out. There’s no good beer without good brewery people: Happy Labour/Labor Day, all! 🍻

My word this is good. Slightly more cow pasture than dried cherry fruit… it’s almost as old and decrepit as I like my red wines that throw terroir. Focused black and red cherry fruit; intense: dry but so rich and lush you perceive sweetness. Amazing.

Crisp, clean, hoppy. Not malty, hazy, or tasting like melon or orange ice cream. Delicious!!!!

Cellar pull, and thank you Ted for this beauty. Pure, crystalline Morello cherry, here. A bit of horse’s blanket but the brett is minimal i.e. no horse undercarriage or horse no.1. Some leather, forest floor & dried leaves. Beautiful package.

Last bottle. Bought 8 on release at the source. Muddy like the Detroit River. Coffee, barley sugar, dark chocolate. Drinks like an old school old ale. Delicious.

Drinks like a light version of Firestone Walker Anniversary Ale. Toffee, figs & coconut. Not gonna get any Buffalo Trace or any Bourbon barr

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)
Goes for a quick spin with my spent vanilla beans (ex-vanilla extract, but still pack a lot of flavour). What a delicious combo, unless you’re a vanilla hater 😁

Chocolate sauce & caramel & a bit of coffee - at this point. Bourbon and barrel gone. It’s a delicious stout but probably makes to hold onto only for verticals.
