Backwoods Bastard (2016)

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It's a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate.

Not as good as I remembered it but still solid. At some point BA Imperials must fall off. Worth the experiment

Been sitting on this one for a while. Soooo good. It has mellowed some, does not seem to be real boozy. Great taste.

From the cellar. Super mellow and smooth. Light scotch and oak notes, roasted dark malts and maybe bourbon soaked raisins that linger. Ever so slightly oxidized. Enjoyable

Cellaring has leveled out this bold brew, but it is by no means mellow. All the right notes are still present with next to no "hot" boozy notes. Still incredible after all those years in the cellar

So far, excessive aging is serving me well. This is mellow but has marinated nicely. Booze is down. Delicious.

Cellar pull. Starting to get cardboardy but still quite boozy! Ramping up my brewday! Very sweet.

It's after noon on a snow day. Time to break out the Bastard and listen to some oldies.
