Velvet Rush

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

Borrowing elements from both high-end craft cocktails and moody jazz clubs, Velvet Rush takes the bourbon barrel-aged brown ale up an octave with free-flowing notes of coffee, chocolate and vanilla extract. Milk sugar aids in weaving together this complex tapestry of flavors to create a unique sipping experience that really ties the room together.

Fabulous. Not getting much barrel, but the coffee and vanilla shine.

Kinda busy for a brown...drinks more like a stout or porter. Very complex, nice sipper...great flavor...no bite. Well done, but they killed what makes a brown a brown.

Soooooooooooooo sweet. It stopped being beer at some point and is instead some sort of starbucks drink with espresso, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla. Drink with dessert or by itself. Contains almost nothing i want from a brown ale.

Sweet and roasty with vanilla and coffee beans. Light and smooth with full of flavor. Runs a bit too sweet for me but tastes like a vanilla latte

Founders has pretty much been irrelevant since 2015. This is a huge step in the right direction. Very good.

Chocolatey at first, coffee later, not super boozy for 11%

Great! The bourbon is light and not overpowering. The coffee/chocolate/vanilla/milk balances really well.

It's like cream soda meets nitro with full body coffee and the bite of high ABV! A fantastic Imperial brown ale!!

As with almost all Founders beers, this is so balanced, so well made, and so yummy. Kinda sorta vaguely like a KBS light.

Good but a bit light (typical for brown ale) and adjuncts are a bit muted as said in reviews. Smooth.

NewBeer on NewPatio. Chocolate/coffee nose; taste starts coffee (lots of coffee); middle is a smooth fullness with hints of choco., vanilla and milk sugar - but very subtle (very full). Finishes as hints of each wondering around in my mouth, lingering.
