Nitro KBS

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

This beer taught us that patience truly is a virtue. Nitro KBS is a big imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolate and then bourbon barrel-aged to perfection – running it through nitro gives it a creamy, light texture that has to be tasted to be believed. Incredibly silky and full-bodied with notes of vanilla, cocoa, roasted coffee and charred oak.

This is wrong at every level. It’s too smooth. It’s not dynamic.

Familiar vanilla sweetness that nitro imparts hits the nose first, but then the also familiar potent oak and dark caramel soon follow. The nitro makes this a much lighter body, and adds a malty sweetness that's not quite welcome, and doesn't blend.

Man, not close to as good as I remember. It tastes like boozy water.

Note one of the most fun ‘spresso tini flights I’ve ever had in the background. This smells like wine and tastes like it too. Like a red. Not loving

Nitrogenation takes a lot away from the body, which is a big star of the show for normal KBS.

Tasteless creamy Nitro stout with coffee. Nitro can ruin just about any beer. Yuck!

This is a rugged SOB. Very heavy with a real bitter chocolate taste. Not my favorite.

Nitro is good but interestingly enough I think I like the regular version better.

This is weird for some reason on nitro…it tastes like if you poured a normal bottle of KBS in a glass… then put that glass in the refrigerator… came back the next day a drank it. Finishes alright though

Smooth on nitro. But you can taste the booziness. Raisins, vanilla, chocolate, coffee.

Smooth but quite boozy and heavy bourbon influence takes away from the roasty stout base.

Loses a lot of complexity to the nitro. Barrel still present but limited coffee, malt

Listed incorrectly at Knowles, it’s clearly the nitro version, which is, to say the least, devastatingly disappointing. Sure, smooth and silky but at the sacrifice of a ton of flavor. It’s not awful, just not what I was expecting when I ordered it.

KBS one of my favorite readily available barrel aged stouts so this confirms I DO NOT like nitro.
