Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2014)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Aged pretty well and still had quite some body and poured a thin but nice head. Less coffeeish than a fresh KSB, the edges of the booziness are rounder and the beer mellower. Sweet!

Lots of fudge. No coffee. Slight bourbon finish but not boozy. Pretty flat. Bottled 3/14/14.

Rich, thick, lots of Chicago and coffee, notes of licorice. Alcoholic but not hot. Terrific.

Even after 7 years, KBS was still wonderful. I know, the brewer says to drink it when released, but it was still smooth and mellow. It wasn't quite as strong in the flavor department as fresh, but still quite good

So smooth with defining bourbon and molasses. Thx Kyle. Brewing a pale ale for my hockey playoffs if we make it.

2014 in 2021. Aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate, coffee and bourbon. Boozy. Seems thin. Syrupy.

Booze in front. Fairly thin in body but the flavors are holding up well. Vanilla and coffee bloom in the fade. No wonder it's a goat.

This wasn’t the best year of KBS to start with, and almost ten years in the cellar didn’t help any.

Yea why not. Interesting what happens to these beers. Very muted semi roasty woody stout is all that is left.
