The Perfect Disguise (2020) Hauschild
This golden beauty sports a very fruity tropical nose with lots of honey, melon, papaya and pineapple. Nectary sweet malts balance nicely, then fade towards the second half, giving way to aggressive hop dankness. Full creamy body and slick honey.

Wood-Aged Bitches Brew Hauschild
One sip of BB will remind the most cantankerous of old school beer nerds why DH were and still are a top tier player. Pouring a bold pitch black with a small but resilient brown head, the nose is complex. Plum, wine coffee, black licorice, and soy sauce

Namaste is squarely to style, which is unusual for Dogfish. Delicate wheat backbone amply bolsters the lightly lemon-orange tinged flavors. Soft pillow miuthfeel. Mild all around, but quenching too.

Very weird but wonderful. This beer keeps you guessing until about mid-glass, when you finally decide, yup, I like this. Pours up light pinkish with a midsized frothy off white head. Lots of dragonfruit in the aroma, berry, and Starburst candy strawberry.

There's good reason for this beer's longstanding spotless reputation. 60 Minute is a near perfect American IPA mixing spicy hops with juicy citrus atop a game malt backbone that uplifts, but never steps on the hops. Clean crisp fade that is hoppy but not

Dark amber pour. Scattered white lace. Somewhat medicinal earthy spruce and Listerine nose. Mint and abuse. Very interesting. Same notes flow into the flavor. A tiny bit of burn as it fades. Ginger?

What a strange trip. The espresso scrapple nose comes across as bedeviled Mexican hot peppers. Light cocoa and dense dark coffee meld inexplicably with the scrapple to create a flavor that is both harmonic and dissonant at the same time.

Complex is both flavor and aroma, each sip brings a new facet to the forefront. Aroma is strong with honey and earthy spices. A bit of chocolate creeps in during the first sip. There is an air of chili pepper, but neither the taste nor burn surfaces;

A truly unique concoction. Aroma is of sweet honey and white grapes, closer to a mead than a beer. Pours a clear golden yellow capped with a minimal white head. The mouthfeel is soft, ending with a minty zing and long sweet honey and juniper berry fade

Bring in the big guns; This sasquatch of a beer has a nose similar to a Belgian dubbel with strong raisiny notes, a large helping of vanilla and oodles of molasses. Pours a beautiful opaque brown with a huge creamy dark brown head.

Now the Scotsman woke to nature's call and stumbled toward the trees Behind a bush, he lifts his kilt and gawks at what he sees And in a startled voice he says to what's before his eyes. O lad I don't know where you been but I see you won first prize.

Tastes like a KBS. Unfortunately the hot pepper is very shy. There's a hint on the sniff, and the tiniest nip of heat in the fade. It's still rich and full with big whiskey and chocolate tones. I wanted more heat, though. You'd never know it was 12%.

KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Hauschild
Nicely refined. Subtlety sweet, but the bba is subtle. It's where it should be. The spice might be overly shy. Never really builds. Not too sweet. It's very good.

Sweet, raisiny, spicy, smoky character. Strong alchohol content bt doesn't overwhelm the taste. Too distinctive to eat with most dinner meals.

Must have had an old one the 1st time I tried. Today's is fresh off the tap and it's great. Leaning into the piney citrus of the venerable Centennial hop, this is classic WC. Nicely balanced with a bit of caramel on the back, it's simple but effective.

BB showcases loads of treacle and toffee with a leathery earthy fade. Not nearly as sweet as I expected. Warms as it goes down, but now ove

Ever wondered what BBA cream soda might taste like dry-hopped. Me neither, but here it is. Boozy AF, but balanced too. Best barleywine of the year, easily.

Peat smoked malty tongue art. A perfectly emulated take on a wee heavy. Evokes scenes of highland sheep on dew covered foggy pastures atop a plateau overlooking craggy cliffs dropping sharply into the surging north Atlantic.

Heavy and thick, a few inches shy of syrupy. The mango is bold and fresh but more like sugared mangoes. The habenero hides in the sniff, but mild persistent heat in the throat let's you know it's there. Good, but a tad too sweet for 12 oz.

Not as crisp as some with a sweet malt aspect. It's tasty, but not top tier. Mildly hoppy fade with sweet cereal malts.

Classic and classy. Nice woody and cherry notes. Malty but not brash. Earthy and well in balance with a mild leathery fade.

A fun and delicious twist on a Tripel amping up brighter berry fruit tones, and dampening down earthy tones through a hefty agave addition. It's still very obviously a Tripel base, but even at 10%, it's lighter and more nimble. Delicious stuff.

Grolsch Premium Lager Hauschild
Crisp smelling but slightly skunky, this golden brew is capped with a rocky white head. Heavy lacing adorns the glass. A mild hop bitterness is apparent amidst the mildly malty backline.

The hops are luscious and juicy in here. Notes of peach, grapefruit and orange rule, backended with some lightly sweet caramel malt. The flavors meld well here, but the malt fades quickly leaving a drastically bitter lingering finish.

Combines a bracing pacific northwest and continental hop blend with smooth German caramel malts for a beer that is both a showcase for smart use of hops and very drinkable for its 6.9%.

another hop juggernaut from Mikkeller, and this one ain’t playing. Big citrus nose with pineapple and grapefruit jostling for position. Pretty pourer as well with a thick beige head that clings to the glass like dingles on a sheepdog.

Dark and intensely sweet with mixed flavor of dark chocolate, soy sauce, and hop resins. Pours the deepest black with a small ring of dark brown head. Alcohol legs are prevalent, but the burn is minimal for a 13% beer. Nice thick mouthfeel.

Forget the 1000 IBU moniker; this DIPA is all that and a can of hopjuice. The best thing about 1000 is that it is not a one trick pony. This brew has an inpeccable rich chewy caramel malty backbone.

Black licorice minus the sugar and whisky arrest the senses. Bitter and woody with an oak dry finish highlighted by a light smack of cognac.

Koppi Tomahawk x Guji Natural Coffee IPA Hauschild
An interesting experiment, but ultimately one that is too safe to really wow you. Grapefruity hops rule the aroma but the slightest hint of roasted coffee creeps in. I would have liked a more aggressive coffee presence. Medium bodied with an earthy fade.
Aroma is a healthy mix of orange, grapefruit, mint, pine and caramel. Bright and pungent. While amply bitter, 19 has enough malt umph to keep this IPA on the more balanced side. Ends on a fruity fade with a small amount of malt sweetness.

Pours hazy maize with a head made of many different size bubbles. Spearmint, grapefruit and strawberry overtones are detectable in the aroma. An unusual malt bill and yeast adds a spicy character. Ends somewhat sloppily with a long bitter whack.
The caramel heavy malt bill battles with the spicy earthy character of the Centennial hop through most of the beer, only allowing the hop to shine in the fade. In a long time fan of this particular sticky bud, and this is not the best application.

Light coppery with a huge frothy off white head. Old school resiny hops forward, but in check with the lightly caramel sweet malt bill. Balanced and very well brewed. Everything in its place. Killer.

Booze in front. Fairly thin in body but the flavors are holding up well. Vanilla and coffee bloom in the fade. No wonder it's a goat.

Booze is a bit sharper and roast bitterness as the end is more pronounced.

Very sweet but very good. Bright cherry, maple, vanilla, a bit of booze. Thick and syrupy but with a lightly tart finish. Great holiday cheer.

Light amber. Some lace. Big spicy earth hop character. Long fairly bitter fade. Nice lightly leathery backbone. Classic.

Hefty but not boozy, the round full MF is the star with mild roast and coffee building on the smooth creaminess to deliver a world class stout. Pretty pour holds a thick slab of brown head. Just a tad of oily slickness. The roast unfolds as it fades.

Flavor is sweet milk chocolate, roast coffee beans, bourbon, and vanilla. Big, round, and thick. Sweet and boozy. By itself it is a bit much, but pair with a coffee cake

A passable premium American lager, but lacking in character and flavor. Light bodied with appropriate carbonation. Pretty golden pour with wispy white head. Some graininess. A hint of honey.

Light golden. Quickly fading white head. Nice honey malt in backbone. A hint of lemon. Balanced. Clean. Decent.

Solid WCIPA entry that plays up the spicy aspect of the hops. I really like the interplay between the malt and hops. Right where it needs to be. Very awesome.

Light American wheat with a very forward citrus addition. Its crushable. Its summery. Uncomplicated quenching goodness. Water substitute. Good stuff.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Hauschild
My god...its full of awesome. Perfect sippin' territory. Big chocolate, maple, coffee. Sweet, just short of cloying. Thick. A little chalky chocolate as it fades. A nip of soy sauce. Very little heat considering the ABV. Stupendous.

French Toast Bastard Hauschild
Amazing sweet decadence. Tons of maple, cinnamon, sweet caramel. A nip of smoke. Tremendously good sipping beer.

Lightly cloudy reddish brown with a thin white head. No lace. Lots of berries on the aroma. Softly carbonated. Berries, light vinegar, biright lemon, and wood flavors. Very much a lighter less intense version of Rodenbach. Long fade of lingonberries. ok.

Pours clear golden with a thick frothy tight bubbled pure white head. Bright citrus and some tropical lychee notes radiate from the glass. The hops here are fresh and bright, and an interesting mix as well. Maybe some pear in there too. Mild biscuit.

Margarita beer. Just stupendous. Lime and smoked tequila nose with sweet caramel malt behind that. Drinks far lighter than its 10% ABV price tag. Very tight carbonation lays off in the beginning, then erupts into a tight bubbled wash.

It's really hard to dislike this one. Its VERY non-beerlike. Closer to watermelon Jolly Rangers, which I REALLY enjoy, and hence I really enjoy this beer. Its not going to pair with most foods, but on it's own, its sweet and tart and packed with flavor.

West coast style, but decidedly less aggressive. Not very resiny. Bright citrusy hops with some tropical notes. Nice fruity quick fade. Middling bitterness.

This milk stout has tons of lactic character along with strong smoky notes, and hints of graham cracker and cinnamon. Not heavy, but full flavored and a good blend of sweet and earthy. Easily 6er worthy. Dogfish showing their pedigree. Excellent.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Hauschild
Mouthgasm. Ridiculous sugary malt bomb. 12.7% ... where. Massive chocolate. Stops short of cloying. There's no burn. It's all pastry goodness. One of the best impy stouts, hands down. Grovel peon.

Curmudgeon's Better Half Hauschild
Molasses. Maple syrup. Vanilla. Skor bar. Chewy. Super sweet. Malt palate bomb. For 12.7% it's really not that hot. Very heavy though. Pretty lightly cloudy reddish brown pour with a thick rocky beige head. Dessert beer. Awesomeness.
