This is an interesting beer and this review is from someone that isn’t big on Barleywine. This actually has some great flavor up front. A nice balance of malty sweetness and hops. However, the backend is one of the most bitter things I’ve tasted.

A barleywine with distinct layers... forward notes of dark fruit, immediately turns to roasty, coffee with a oddly dry finish. Very unique, can't wait till it warms up.

Donkerbruin, helder, niet schuimend, niet zuur, niet fruitig, scherp bittertje wegens wat IPA, lichte caramel, zoet zonder meer, hoog alcohol perc. geeft het haast een liqueur touch, speciaal geval deze van de 'Amerikaander', nog maar 70tal check ins ?

Day 16: Surprise barley wine style brew. Leave it to the wife. Solid malt backbone with toffee or caramel notes and a hint of coffee too. Nice. Thanks honey. Prost!!

👁 Robe noire, col moyen 👃 Notes de cereals et plus houblonnées 👅 En bouche, l'amertume est très prononcée, même trop. Légèrement déséquilibrée à mon goût...

It is sooooo overpowering in hops and alcohol that it leaves a musty or mothball sort of taste in your mouth. Yeesh!
