Nez caramel, noisettes grillées, malts, esters. En bouche, molasse, houblons "terreux". Forte amertume.

Wee heavy goblet finally being used for a scotch ale. Yum.

Typical Founders outstanding product. Not overly malty. Definite hop bite with a little smoke at the end. Good beer.

De barrel aged versie van deze had ik wel al gehad. Deze standaard versie heeft ook de aardse/turf tonen, met karamel, rozijn en pruim. Niet zo heftig/bijzonder als de barrel aged backwoods bastard, maar wel lekker. Deze drinkt ook iets makkelijker weg.

Reddish brown with high carbonation. Malty sweet and boozy at almost 8.7% ABV. Almost no hop bitterness, so you taste the booziness. Seems to hit the unique style.

Una ale dal gusto forte e intenso ma in qualche modo ha un suo equilibrio. Il gusto è molto complesso, sicuramente c'è qualcosa che richiama il whiskey, sembra quasi passata in botte ma non credo lo sia. Perfetta da bere in una serata autunnale.
