Very hoppy and bitter for the style. Water has a strong mineral content (probably where the name comes from). Otherwise a strong maltiness with dark fruits and chocolate/caramel. Yet not especially sweet. The 8.5% is strong . Full smooth body; mod CO2.

Haven’t had this 2016. Dark sweet malt nose with a bit of smoke. Taste is same but with alcohol assertions. Leathery and dry and bitter by the finish.

This is decent. Definitely a wee heavy Scots, with a bit of an after taste, but still quaffable. Go Oilers!🏒😎🍺

Malty, earthy, and a bit boozy , fresh out of the fridge. I’ve found the alcohol to fade as the brew warms up a bit.

Scotch Ales were once my favorite style. Caramel maltiness taste, strong ABV.

Upon reappraisal, I give it a weak 3.5. Bitter. Harsh chocolate. Less than full bodied.

Sweet and malty with some good bitterness on the finish.
