Backwoods Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Expect lovely, warm smells of single malt scotch, oaky bourbon barrels, smoke, sweet caramel and roasted malts, a bit of earthy spice and a scintilla of dark fruit. It’s a kick-back sipper made to excite the palate. Distribution Note: Now available year-round beginning April of 2018.

Cool bottle with the homeless alcoholic symbolism...a forcefield of bourbon coats the atmosphere.. smoky caramel essence ,boozy vanilla, bready ,and dry notes..a treacly crude finish . Overall pleasant, with just reasonable complexity. Straightforward 🍻

This bastard is a scotch ale that can be enjoyed easily. Drinks easier, and faster than the typical barrel aged. And tasted better too - from start to finish. This is a winner!

One of the best beers I’ve ever had. Caramel, smokey, bourbon. Perfect barrel aged beer.

Drinking this from the bottle so not getting a lot of noise to this. The taste however has a fair bit of sweetness from the booziness of scotch but there is more to this than that to give it a little more complexity. Not sure what though label says vanil

REALLY strong bourbon, definitely made to be sipped and not gulped! Definitely tasty, but the alcohol and bourbon tang are nearly too strong. I prefer the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

I am drinking a fresh bottle of Backwoods. This is extremely smooth and easier drinking compared to many past years. It's really good. I hope they do Better Half again too, and soon.

Fantastic. Very complex. Like a toasted piece of mahogany smoked on a fire of peat and coffee and then covered in tung oil.
