Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

The legendary CBS returns! CBS is a bold imperial stout featuring chocolate and coffee that has aged in bourbon barrels with maple syrup. The sweet, but balanced, aromas of maple syrup and chocolate fill the air, while notes of toasted oak and vanilla become more profound with every sip - melding together in what can only be described as a transcendent drinking experience.

Nice fully body. Boozy with a smooth barrel aged finish. The maple syrup is subtle and not overly sweet

The 11.7% packs a punch- my first sip was purely chocolate and strong alcohol, which isn’t the worst thing. After the first sip, the bourbon and coffee showed followed by notes of maple syrup. Lighter mouthfeel than I expected. Well made!

Drown me in maple syrup and lay me to rest in a chocolate river. The rich chocolate waves will wash me ashore to glory. One of the best chocolate maple beers I’ve had. Words cannot describe. Get this.

Settle on in for a winter time jingle. A breakfast of kings or good ole Kris Kringle . And whether or not you’re north of the border, this stout brings all cheer, never disorder.

Glad I had a chance to try the re-release. Not really getting any maple though, and the coffee mostly seems to come through as bitterness, which isn't quite what I was hoping for. Still a good BA stout, but I suspect it has been eclipsed by others by now.

Don’t remember what year this was…likely 2018-2019. Has held up well. When straight out of the beer fridge it felt a little thin and was a tad astringent. But after coming back towards room temp the complexities came back.
