Burton Baton

Historical Beer - Burton Ale

An oak-aged, gentle giant. Two "threads," or batches, of beer β€” an English-style old ale and an imperial IPA β€” are brewed and, after separate fermentation in stainless tanks, are transferred and blended together in large oak tanks.

A classic, deceptively drinkable with perfect not-cloying vanilla notes, a lot of malt, but still enough hops to balance it all out. Perfect for special occasions like Christmas Eve or, in this case, Tuesday.

The woodiness aroma really draws you in and the blending of flavors really tastes great. Great marriage of ale and hops.

Yes to the caramel up front. I catch a bit of smoky at end. Well crafted. Brad and I keep debating what flavors we taste. Sign of a well crafted beer.

Like this. Good bit of caramel with some form of earthy spice hidden within.

Omg.. bottled on 08/05/14 and as good as I remember it. Lightly oaky, sweet, rich, complex. Vaguely reminds me of an imperial pumpkin ale without the spices.
