Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA

IPA - American

The Holy Grail for hopheads, 120 Minute IPA is continuously hopped with a copious amount of high-alpha American hops throughout the boil and whirlpool, aged in Sam Adams Utopias barrels for a full twelve months, and then abundantly dry-hopped.

It’s the best of both world - malty, boozy, caramel-ly.

C’est smooth, raisin, cassonade. Petite chaleur en bouche. Le hops ressort un peu piney et citrique par moment. Je n’ai malheureusement pas la référence d’Utopias n y ayant jamais goûté mais c est la twist qui manquait. Don’t sleep on that. 4,5+

Want more hops, more boozy than hoppy for a triple IPA. Good, but not like the classic.

Smooth, rich, sweet, burnt caramel, honey, raisin, vinous, hints of citrus and pine, boozy, throat warming, bourbon, oak barrel, with light bitterness

Big and boozy. Better than I expected honestly. Almost like having a cocktail. Deep rich flavor. Lots of alcohol on the nose.

As if 120 Minute IPA didn’t have enough flavor and it needed to be aged in barrels used for one the strongest and most flavorful beers in existence. This beer is amazingly smooth, especially considering the 17% abv.

This is crazy! A bit like a cellar-aged 120 minute itself, slightly sweeter. Steve! Gotta try this one!

Utopian influence is definitely there. Boozy and maltiness that you have come to expect from this brew, but like with a sweet subtlety (almost honey like). Really smooth considering the BA influence. Killer stuff!!

Could not have said it better than Sascha W. But would like to add, barrel presence is huge on the nose. Malty, classic huge wee heavy like nose with subtle hops. Taste follows. More syruppy. Boozy. Smooth sipper

Very aromatic, this brew is surprisingly not hop strong. Smooth. Goes down real easy. Generous bourbon notes. Amazing at 17%!!!
