Olde School (2017)

Barleywine - American

Bold, yet smooth! Fermented with dates and figs, this bone-crusher has a completely unique flavor. At 15% abv, this beer is a great candidate for ageing. Over time, the beer dries out and the pit fruit flavors come forward and the hops recede.

FLN - 17’ Really starting to hit its stride here. Hops still very much present, w/ booze receding 👍

Hard to read on the bottle, sweet raisins and dates but big alcohol.

Boozy leather and stone fruit nose. Like peaches and plums over ripened. Smooth tounge, all the sharp bite is aged out of it. Heavy warming alcohol plum and fig, smooth. Lingers in the back with a slight black pepper finish.

My last one. Huge dig and sweet date flavor. And medicinal and bitter in the most perfect way.

Stone fruit sweetness. Has mellowed considerably. Should have drank it sooner.

Boozy, dark fruit, carmel, way bitter for something in the cellar for this long.

Les esters de datte et fruits sec sont superbes. C'est boozy beurre au caremel. Miam. J'aime bien les indications sur la bouteille.

The aging made it more malty tasting. Love the numbed down booziness. Nice sweetness. Mild fig notes. Very light and smooth. Extremely dangerous. Wish we got the 2012 version. Still love dogfish head and this brew!

A sipper but coming on the backend of an EBF six pack.... ugh. Unlike day 1... this is more in line with the barleywine style. Oh you drank 5 beers in 2 hours... here’s 15% to put you to sleep.

Killer barley wine. From Sam’s personal stash for Extreme Beer Fest. Thick, full bodied ale with tons of fig notes.
