Backwoods Bastard (2018) Obert
Tonight's closer. Stellar scotch ale, thinned out some, but a classic and still packs great flavor.
The OG boozy brown ale, drinkable and smooth, heady barrel notes, what all brown ales should all aspire to be
about 1 year ago
A generous share from a bottle share; tart and mildly sweet with rich hints of blueberry. Stellar.

KBS Spicy Chocolate (2023) Obert
Going back north of the border for a mole inspired stout for the holiday. Tasty, flavorful, but doesn't really jump out as the best mole stout I've had. Heady coffee and chocolate overwhelm the spiciness. Good for me, but spice fans would want more.

Not that I have a whole lot of other options at this point, so it works!

A Double Mosaic Daydream About Blueberry Cannibals Obert
Blueberries and Mosaic OH style beer; a good, smooth, creamy match.

World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged Obert
Have the OG, have the BA variety, the spirits of party demand it. A chill St. Pat's for me, but with work on the morrow, restraint is called for. Headier barrel notes than the OG, and a tad more abrasive, but delivers on point.
Seems like a fit addition to the St. Pat's register. Goes down easy and sits just right.

For when you just wanna stay in and drank. A fine closer. 🍻 all!

I couldn't help myself. It's right here and so good. Rich chocolate and coffee notes, smooth for the ABV, all-over easy going for one of the most classically strong stouts.

A Double Mosaic Daydream About Blueberry Cannibals Obert
Totally an OH vibe with blueberries. Pillowy and soft, nice tartness.
Think of this as KBS meets a weaker stout. Thinner than I'd like from the dark beer masters at Founders, but the flavor is complex and wonderful. Coffee and fudge leap to the forefront and hazelnuts back the whole deal up, along with a boozy countenance.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018) Obert
I always do what the Bettet Half tells me. This is handily one of Founders best beers.
Sweet for a boozy pumpkin beer, but it's Founders, so they'll get a pass.

Kriek Mariage Parfait (2011) Obert
Oh, yes, amazing. Slightly sweet cherry perfectly balanced with dry oak notes. Not acidic, very drinkable and still has a ton of shelf life left on it.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Obert
Never a bad choice; back to the dark stuff to close out the day.

There is no way this beer can do wrong. Over 10 years old and still baller.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Obert
The return of a legend. Mapley goodness, needs to warm as it's kinda sweet, but so smooth and balances the coffee nicely.
Juicy dark fruit notes in a stout. Rich, kinda oxidized, but held on very well.

Time for Treehouse of Horror and one last beer. Potent blueberry and sticky stouty goodness. Cheers all, and have a good rest of the weekend.

Curmudgeon's Better Half Obert
One last brew for the evening. Rich, inky molasses notes, dark sugar and light caramel, just stellar. Founders is my kryptonite,.for good cause.

A caramelly wheatwine. Boozy and sweet, but not too, and delicious.

Sitting has helped this some; nice sweetness now that wasn't there originally. Cheers and chocolate, dessert par excellence

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Obert
Nice and spicy; a good way to start a nice round of outdoor drinking in fall weather.

Ginger, Spice, Barreled And Nice Obert
Founders continues its crusade to make every style a 12% or higher. A barleywine is the perfect style into which adding spices and ginger works. Smooth and spicy, with a balanced blend of flavors. The perfect lead-in to the holiday season.

I mean, Eddie Fitz is my go-to, but this is a close second as available porters go.

Tacky maple sweetness. I mean, I love that's a 13% killer, but need some time

Wake Up World Wide Stout Obert
Right. Less ABV than the regular, but so much more coffee.

Founders.tried to make a ball-breaking Marzen; theyly got it part way. A decent closer for the weekend.
Caramelly sweetness hidden behind a boozy body. A sweet finish to the night.
Classic non-hazy, non-transparent IPA. Mild hops, solid malt build, retro, yo!
Actual closer, lol. It's the AM, so French toast lands. Tons of cinnamon and maple.
Closing with one of the weaker KBS variants. Cherry is strong, but coffee doesn't gel as well. Got better with time, maybe more is needed
about 2 years ago
For a Golden Ale, this packs a lot of citrus flavor. Doesn't wow, but it's solid. Nice grapefruit notes, clean and light bodied. Goes down very easy.

Never not good; finding one of these babies in the basement is amazing. So good, tasty booziness and warming notes
over 2 years ago
Strong notes of boozy cherry; a little too sweet for what it is. The coffee come through strong, though it doesn't quite gel with the other flavors.
Maple comes through the more this warms, which is good, because otherwise it's pure boozahol. That being said: I like boozahol as a flavor.

I swear Christmas gets longer every year. I needed a shot and one of these to help tide me over until, well, the next beer, lol..

Feelin' something brunchy. The cinnamon nose in this is stupid good; a.solid variant, but I still prefer the OG.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) Obert
A quick lunch before Dark Daze at The Veil. Asked for a CBS. Got a pint of it. Hooray me, I guess, lol. Starting the day off right, I guess.
An interesting blend. Heavy Cinnamon notes overwhelm the standard Backwood Bastard, but it's smooth, goes down nicely, with both sweet and spicy notes.
Closing with one more butt-kickin' beer. Wishing it had a richer malt character.
Oddly sweet. Who barrel ages a Marzen? Founders. Light bodied, goes down damn easy for the ABV. Still, I can see how this is not everyone's jam.
A dryer version of KBS. Not bad; still got the kick and a fine finisher.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Obert
Founders is just the best. Mapley, kinda sweet, but still with a boozy kick. You need to get this to let it really shine.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018) Obert
Handily one if Founders best entries. Forget better half, more like the best half.

Juicy and luscious indeed. Dessert candy stout without being a sugar bomb.

When you have had a long, frustrating day, drink a barleywine. You'll thank me for this advice.

A crushable, low-test Founders porter and the cub is cute as all get-out 😁

Less stellar than Solera No 1, but nicely tart. A little carby, more white wine like, but a solid palate cleanser.

Ready to get back on the horse after last night's shenanigans. Starting easy-breezy and staying inside. That sun is a killer today!

Fermentation Engastration Obert
This is a lot; dry notes melding with thick mead flavors. A heavy hitter at 10%, it's a sweet, fruity experience with afternotes of dry saison.
Tons of juicy fruit; love mangoes, so this delivers. Not really getting the spicy finish, but the ife assures me it's there.
Lovely tart, ho blend. Joosy with tight WC notes; a cool outdoor drinking experience.

Classically good; boozy and dank, strong hops, the perfect beer for sharing with friends!

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Obert
Cold and crummy out, so time to say Oh Canada! Maple warmth fends off the slushy mess.

Baller barleywine; hoppy and boozy and nit for the faint of heart.
