Sour - Other

We teamed up with our pals at Angry Orchard to produce this mixed media expression of our fermentation worlds. We began with a mixed culture farmhouse ale brewed with pilsner, spelt, rye, wheat and Vienna malts that had been aged in French oak Chardonnay barrels for 2 years. Then we blended it with Estate-grown apple cider from Angry Orchard’s New York orchard using select apple varieties to complement the acidity of the beer. The result is a wonderfully tart, fruity, almost champagne-esque drinking experience full of aromatic apples, bright acidity, pungent funk and oaky dryness.

Very little apple but plenty sour. Very lambic-like.

It’s definitely solid and flavorful. Not my favorite style of sour but one I would have no problem getting again.

I like this more than I expected to. It’s like if Angry Orchard tasted better. Less sweet than cider. Very slight funkiness.

Despite the cider addition, the sour funk and oak aging still came through

6.6% sour collab w/Angry Orchard. Mixed cultured farmhouse ale brewed w/pilsner, spelt, rye, wheat, Vienna malts, aged in French oak Chardonnay barrels for two years. Blended with apple cider. Tart & funky, bordering on lambic. Pretty, pretty gewd!

A smoky funk tart. But not too strong in either characteristic. Great drink.
