L'allegro

Belgian Strong Golden Ale

Belgian-farmhouse-style ale with spices and honey. Mirthfully brewed with locally farmed grains, wildflower honey, citrus peel and wild Timur peppercorns. Inspired by the pastoral poem L'Allegro by John Milton, for whom our town is named.

This was a very nice farmhouse ale and am glad that it stayed relatively fresh while stored in the fridge for far too long. As with all Dogfish ales, this one makes me like it even when I don't enjoy the style. If you never sipped this, you missed it.

Think Lemon and Peppercorn Vodka from Dogfish but as a beer.

Very light. Sweet with honey notes. Mildly spicy. Floral.

Missed the mark on this. Like drinking a bouquet of flowers.

This is delicious. I wish I'd bought more. Belgian yeast renders a lot of spice, flavor. Strong grain flavors. Lightly floral, and a pleasant, sweet (honey) finish gives it a balanced, malty body.
