Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) W
Time goes quickly! Bottled 9/17/2019. First time I've had this vintage from a bottle, now aged close to 4.5 years. A lot of wood, but maybe a bit mellowed. A brief bitter molasses note passes. Lots of maple syrup to balance the roast.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2017) W
2017. Very chocolaty. Oaky and sweet with maple syrup. Plenty of bourbon flavor, toffee, coffee, but not so strong as many BBA beers now. I guess I like them all? Nicely balanced. Very smooth.

Recent check-in with J at Sim Coe. Still on tap, if I'm not mistaken. People don't know. Go get it, and then have some other great options there! How often do you see this on draft around here, if you see it at all? Check hours before you visit.

Guava, pepper. Lightly sweet overall but has a quite sweet candy-like Sweet Tart note among the otherwise mildly sour flavor.
Balanced hops, malt, and fruit. Lands on the hoppy, heavy DIPA side. Citrus mix, hints of tropical fruit, biscuity malt.
Mild. Less mango than I expected. Apricot, pear, tart tropical fruit that may be starfruit.
Grapefruit, lemon, lime, a hint of spicy lemongrass and ginger, maybe some other melon-like fruity flavors. Quite tasty.

Juicy, a little tangy. Lots of citrus, mostly orange, tangerine, etc.

Tons of grapefruit in every way. Nose upfront, sweet, juicy flavor, and just a touch of zest. Very fruity, very easy. Almost crushable. I'd never guess it's ABV. I admit I'm surprised at how much I enjoy this.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) W
On right. From 2/6/2019. Still well carbonated. Wood prominent, plenty of chocolate, and some coffee, finishing with a bourbon bite, though not hot. Quite different from the 7.5 year-old 2016.

Saving room for later. This is quite tasty for virtually NA. Citrusy with a sweet, tangy note, and tastes a little more IPA-like than wheat ale, but some wheat/grain notes. Light and easy. Decent enough body.

Roasty and chocolaty, lightly fruity and sweet with cherry juice, especially near the end. After the cherry, finishes dry and woody.

2022 bottled 1/31/2023. Cork says 2022. Bottled 1/31/2023. Floral, fruity nose. Nicely sweet and sour. Strong berry flavor. Not as vinegary as many of Cantillon's lambics. Slight dry funk emerges among the generally sweet, mouth-watering flavor.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2016) 12.4% W
Pretty much 7 years old now. This vintage really held up. Still tastes of bourbon, booze, wood, and chocolate on a roasted coffee base. The newer ones seem sweeter and may have lost more bite. Of course, I do like KBS fresh, often more than aged.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) W
Bottled 3/7/2018, now aged about 4.5 years. Drinking pretty perfectly right now. Great balance of wood, chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. Long, slow, warming finish. Flavor is mellow with each note present but in harmony. No bite to the bourbon.

Sweet, white wine aroma, maybe overripe if it were wine, but more of a sweet, yeasty aroma for beer. A lot of oak. Sweet lemon-lime. Dry note, somewhat dry finish on the tongue, although a wet sweetness lingers at the top of the palate. Acidic.

2019, specific time stamp generally illegible on this batch. After warming a bit, mostly chocolate bourbon stands out.

This is great. Fruity with plenty of berry flavor, but it doesn't overpower the malty beer, and it isn't too sour.

2019. Bourbon, raisin, dark chocolate aroma. Rich chocolate, fig, some raisin, and a lot of bourbon without any harshness. Well balanced. Really fantastic at this point, though I don't know what it was like new in 2019. I'd never guess it's 18%.

This is delicious. I wish I'd bought more. Belgian yeast renders a lot of spice, flavor. Strong grain flavors. Lightly floral, and a pleasant, sweet (honey) finish gives it a balanced, malty body.

2017. Malty, a lot of caramel, fig, and some dark bread. A bit of raw alcohol still. As it warms, less alcohol and more nuttiness and toffee develop. Great with Alpine cheese and Gouda, good with cheddar, less good with brie.
