Two years old - sweet and almost syrupy with grapefruit)red with sugar), lime, tequila and a tart coating at the end - a touch boozy, a touch of salinity - different in a good way.

2018 bottle - smooth and sweet - cocoa, sweetened coffee- smooth and though boozy not hot.

16.5% - canned April 26/18. Dark chocolate, slightly vinous, plummy, brown sugar and molasses - sweet and boozy with a pronounced backend bitterness.

World Wide Stout - Bourbon Barrel Aged

Bottled Nov 1/19. Rich and full without being viscous - bourbon booziness with layers of caramel, vanilla, dates, molasses and soft notes of cocoa and coffee. Wonderful warming 6 oz bomb (split 2 ways) - you’re a monster if you consume alone.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa

Black with scant mocha head - heavy cinnamon aroma, vanilla, chocolate - sweet and roasty, soft coffee notes with the vanilla and chocolate and that cinnamon punch.

90 Minute Imperial IPA

Dated can - still sticky and sweet though the hops fallen off somewhat.

120 Minute IPA

Felt obligated on 1/20 - sweet and boozy - caramel, pine, brown sugar and some citrus - sweetness pushes back the bitterness. A treat (and the second half tomorrow something to look forward to).

4 ounces is fantastic every time - cinnamon and maple, vanilla, bourbon - a touch of bitter at the back. Delicious.

Brief affair with Founders wet hop ends with second 12 ounce bottle of liquid hop magic - piney and green, sweet, a bit of citrus - resinous with a spicy vegetal bitterness.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2018)

CBS 2018 in a 750 ml bottle - a treat shared by my brother - 5 years on still great. Sweet, hint of maple, subtle coffee notes, boozy and delicious.

Harvest Ale

Bottle from brewery - bright and piney - resinous, citrus, a bit green and spicy tingling the mucous membranes- very, very nice.

KBS Hazelnut

From brewery - packaged Feb 22 - great but not fav KBS variant (Mackinaw Fudge). Coffee fallen off - nutty chocolate on nose, follows on palate - rich chocolate, nutty, creamy , boozy and smooth.

Red's Rye IPA

5 ounces - had several times and always great - spicy rye, grapefruit peel bitterness, caramel malt sweetness. Just a great IPA.

Harvest Ale

On tap - bright and green - piney, grapefruit - bitter yet sweet and clean. Hops doing their thing.

French toast in a glass - vanilla, maple - sweet and decadent - perfect 5 ounces.

60 Minute IPA

Deliciously bittersweet classic IPA - piney, cereal malt sweet and floral and just a touch dank. ABV makes very drinkable. Excellent.

Barrel Aged Imperial Stout (Mothership Series)

12.4% - thick black with creamy brown head. Nose chocolate fudge, vanilla, bourbon. Sweet vanilla, chocolate, a touch boozy - bourbon - as warmed a hint of bitterness. Smooth and delicious.

KBS

2018 and 2023. Both delicious - fresher more vibrant - more coffee and a fuller body. Age not hurt greatly - a little softer bitterness. No complaints on either but think rule probably fresh is best.

Sweet Repute

Hazy bronze - fruity nose - hint of maple; sweet and boozy - maple, bourbon, burnt caramel - so interesting - sweet but bitterness keeps trying to break through - sticky resinous finish.

60 Minute IPA

Been a few years - this is such a great beer - drinkable as heck, citrusy sweet, floral and a touch of pine. Soft bitterness with a bright crisp finish. Wonderful slice of history.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge

Deliciously rich and sweet - chocolate, maple, a bit of coffee - full and a bit boozy - hints of the bourbon barrel - KBS but maybe better.

Dirty Bastard

Sweet with caramel and toffee, dark fruits but with a piney, slightly earthy bitterness balancing.

Backwoods Bastard

Well this is really good when you don’t leave 5 years in the basement! Sweet and a bit boozy with notes of toffee, peat, oak and a hit of bourbon.

90 Minute Imperial IPA

Smooth sticky resinous with a hop barrage and huge malty sweetness. Full and delicious.

Raison D'Extra

From 2019 - ruddy reddish brown pour - brown sugar, raisins, prunes and a sweet boozy kick. Yeah this is hot but fruity and sweet and tasty.

World Wide Stout

5+ years on this - roasty malt, toffee, cocoa, coffee note - boozy with a warming hit and earthy bitterness. Great.

Backwoods Bastard

A little aged - not as good as I remember - sweet, boozy, a bit of peat, molasses, bourbon - a touch vinous/port wine at backend. Need to try fresh bottle.

Dankwood

Continues to age well - sticky sweet - dank, caramel, burnt orange and boozy.

3 oz - of the 4 pours the weakest but still wonderful - coffee, slightly bitter, coffee, roasty. Unfair to compare to the barrel aged options this forms base for but this is a winner anyway.

Last one from a few years back - boozy tropical - rum is a bit hot - burnt orange, over ripe pineapple - sweet and a little bitter.

Purchased just pre pandemic - Nov 2019 - side by side with KBS - minor differences - a little thinner, a bit more of finishing bitterness but still sweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla on sweetened coffee base. Delicious.

Smooth - even with age coffee still there, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon - sweet and boozy but not cloying. Always great.

Barrel Runner

A bit more age - somehow more boozy - out and out hot; some syrupy sweetness and tropical fruit in back - rum. Not bad but hot….

Imperial Stout

From 2019 when travel happened. Black, rich, caramel and chocolate with dark fruit - a touch of smoke in the palate - brisk carbonation, creamy and a little bitter kick.

Dankwood

Approaching 4 years old and not lost a step - bittersweet caramel, sticky and dank - and a touch boozy.

KBS

Three year old bottle - shared - dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla nose - taste follows with caramel notes, hint licorice. Sweet and a little roasty; smooth and boozy bourbon warms.

Blushing Monk

A little dated (or a lot) but still tasty - sweet, raspberry, a bit yeasty. The aroma has a bit of a cough syrup note but the taste remains solid.

Beer Geek Fudgesicle BA Rye Whiskey

Darkest brown to black with scant head - chocolate and vanilla nose, sweet fudge, vanilla, slightly boozy with notes of caramel and whiskey. Exceptionally smooth finish. Costly bottle but a good splurge.

Underground Mountain Brown

2019 vintage - coffee has faded but remarkably smooth - brown sugar, chocolate, hint of dark fruit - sweet but not cloying - pleasantly boozy.

Continues to age well - bittersweet caramel, bourbon, resinous still some boozy heat - nice sipper.
