Coffee nose. Malt & coffee, carb bite, hints of chocolate - especially on the finish. #AlwaysWinning

A rich malty nose, some hints of stone fruit maybe? Still decently hoppy, but the nose follows through.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018) H
Mellow nose. Light maple notes. Incredible smoothness. Slight hoppiness is notable, but it’s definitely not prominent. Caramelly goodness. No heat to it at all.. super dangerous, you could drink this all day long.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) H
From LM, and for LM. A successful conclusion to a really hard - yet ultimately good - trip. In many ways, the capstone on a really large transition. Not a bad way to celebrate. Malt-mocha nose, smooth matching flavor w/ coffee, & carb/booze bites.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) H
Needed one worth celebrating my 1st major blog post in 7-8 mo; this’ll do. From my LM stash, thanks to P H. Rich cocoa nose, smooth as silk, malt; hint of dark chocolate… some coffee bitterness late. A bit much carbonation fade. Glad it didn’t die in LM.

Hazelnut malt on the nose, w/ just a bit of coffee. The flavor profile matches that, rotating the coffee to the front of that list. Gas station hazelnut-flavored coffee. Something of an unfortunate fakey-astringent note late which lingers.

As advertised. Quite nice. Lightly tart, some wheat… but it’s really those two fruits in happy harmony. Maybe slightly mandarin-fwd in the balance.

This is how we celebrate (-M’s-in-the-playoffs;-1st-time-since-‘01-) sweeping Toronto 2-0 in the Wild Card series. Next up: Hou & the ALDS!

Malt city, w/ more hops late as it warms. Gotta love drinking some nice bread. Also an M’s playoff win.

21 years. 7,641 days. And the Seattle Mariners are finally back in the playoffs. I’ll drink to that.

Pure tripel goodness. Pushed from a 3.75 to a 4.0; limited only by style preferences. So good for the style. Thanks, T!

Maple-vanilla nose, not overly strong. Roasty, maple. Just a little boozy heat… noticable, not a negative.

That game needed a beer. This one rose to the challenge. I forgot how good malt could be in an IPA.

Amazing how well this one holds up compared to some of the fancy beers I’ve been drinking this year.

No flavor profiles were harmed by the logos on this mug - coffee or otherwise.

Rich, pure coffee nose. Smooth, yet with a little bite. Not getting much chocolate - the Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Milk Stout is vastly superior on that adjunct - yet the coffee-fwd profile is as good as ever.

Many thanks, Joseph H. ! Should have warmed more, but still quite good.

Rich, fudgey nose (reminds me of the Ents’ loam from LotR), w/ a maple accent as if it were a maple-frosted mocha brownie. Moderately viscous, delivers on most of the nose’s promise, a really nice malt finish.

VERY interesting. Milk, check. Malt, sure! Wood? Very light, as would be the booziness. Crazy concept and I’m not sure about all the claims, per se, but I like it well enough. Which is good, since I had to buy it in a six pack.

(4d ago) Light sweetness on a chocolate nose, a boozy-malt note or two. Smooth but tangy: carbonated oaky malt, chocolate cream, coffee late, & a dry, hint-of-cacao finish.

Oak-Aged Vanilla World Wide Stout (2018) H
(19d ago) Happy birthday to the ground! Huge, boozy nose w/ sweet vanilla throughout. Malty-sweet w/ plenty of powerful booze & smooth vanilla malt, dark fruit notes throughout.

(1d ago) Rich and smooth, all the expected notes. A bit bitter compared to the illustrious 2017, but still quite good. A great way to celebrate the official move into our house!

(2d ago) CBCC-in-absentia, Day Five - Pelican Edition. Also celebrating a finished 1F 1/2 bath. Knocked a tad off; the fourth year aging was probably just a bit too much. But the complexity, smoothness, and richness are the envy of the imp stout set.
