Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Whitaker

Black in color; medium bodied; it a distinguishable coffee or chocolate flavor; a bit on the sweet side; no bourbon bite; good; but, I like other Founders bourbon barrel beers better

KBS Blueberry Whitaker

Dark black in color; medium bodied; good blueberry flavor at the finish; less of a classic KBS flavor at the start; cannot detect the bourbon and if you can it is very subtle; not sweet like a dessert beer; a nice sipping beer; really good.

Breakfast Stout Whitaker

Black in color; medium bodied; boarder line watery; good coffee flavor toward the middle; less heavy than other stouts; but less flavor; not bad, but their KBS line is way better.

Nordic Spring Whitaker

Cloudy dark golden in color; almost opaque; medium bodied; hints of juniper toward the finish; cannot detect the “berry”; refreshing; enough flavor to be interesting, but not as heavy as an IPA.

French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022) Whitaker

Black in color; medium bodied; starts of sweet; strong maple flavor up front; finishes with some vanilla flavor; cannot detect the alcohol or the bourbon barrel flavor; good, but I prefer more traditional bourbon beers.

Mango Magnifico Whitaker

Aged for another few months since the last one; the flavor profile has not changed much; some mango up front, but the habanero heat overpowers the flavor at the backend; not as enjoyable as I hoped.

Mandarin & Mango Crush Whitaker

Cloudy golden in color; good carbonation; finishes a bit dry; kind of like a saison; a definite mango and orange flavor, but subtle; not sweet at all; lighter feeling than an IPA; a good refreshing beer on a hot summer day.

Where the Wild Hops Are Whitaker

Cloudy golden in color; medium bodied; good hops flavor at the start; hops are not overpowering or bitter; more mild than I remember the 60 or 90 minute IPA’s; a nice classic IPA for a hot spring day.

Frootwood (2022) Whitaker

Bronze in color; medium bodied; hints of sweetness; subtle cherry flavor toward the finish; cannot detect the bourbon itself; a boarder line dessert beer; good with a lower alcohol (8%) than some; refreshing, but with more body than a typical fruit beer.

Más Agave Prickly Pear Whitaker

Fuscia in color; full bodied; sweet; strong fruit flavor; much more of a dessert beer than a with a Chipotle burrito beer; good, but loses points for sweetness and being a dessert beer.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Whitaker

Black in color; full bodied; subtle maple flavor at the finish blended with chocolate; not sweet like fudge; hints of bourbon; strong; the maple is not a “gimmick”; I might actually enjoy this more than regular KBS!
