Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Lombard
Massively malty with fruity esters like black cherry and orange. High bitterness masked by sweet maple.

4 Giants Starcatcher Haze Lombard
Wave of tropical fruit aroma as the can is opened, but piney notes emerge along with light cracker malt. The flavor has aggressive bitterness right up front, followed by tropical, citrus, and piney hops. Moderate cracker malt. A tiny bit astringent.

Aroma of grapefruit flesh, not just grapefruit hops, flavor like biting into a grapefruit section. Bright lime notes suggesting a margarita, aided by the blue agave nectar. Citrus acidity, low bitterness, low cracker malt. Excellent poolside beer.

Aroma is a bit toward NW hops, less tropical, a bit more bready malt showing through. Flavor is more tropical like a mango Jolly Rancher. Sorry Tara E. No Starcatcher; thanks Seymour B. for looking.

4 Giants Tropical Treasure Lombard
It certainly is tropical, a cliche but bursting with mango & pineapple & tangerine. Very juicy, very well balanced.

Firing both barrels with massive malty sweetness and aggressive bitterness. Piney hops with citrus. You have to be in the mood for the intensity, but that’s what TIPA, barleywine, and Imperial Stouts are all about. Sweetness is a little out of balance.

Absolutely delicious Gueuze, tart and beautifully balanced. Restrained funk.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Lombard
Comparatively thin and a bit disappointing. A very good beer but not excellent.

Yes, it looks like an undercarbonated Marzen, but 9 months in bourbon barrels leave it unrecognizable to traditionalists. High malty sweetness is offset by moderate bitterness and its firepower is offset by smoothness.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Lombard
Intense malt, intense bourbon and oak, high chocolate flavor, moderately high bitterness to balance the sweetness of the malt.

Utopias Barrel - Aged World Wide Stout (2021) Lombard
Superb stout aged in superb barrels. The sherry, raisin and red fruit notes of Utopias are layered on top of the massive dark malts, high bitterness and high roastiness of the stout. Notes of chocolate and coffee. Boozy without being hot.

Very good beer, definitely let it warm. The question is whether the hazelnut enhances or detracts from the outstanding beer underneath. As it warms it gets better, but I would say the original is better.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Lombard
As a KBS it features massive sweet dark malts with significant barrel notes and high bitterness to balance that sweetness. The cocoa and vanilla are there but the cinnamon is a bit overpowering and there is a strong coconut note that emerges.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Lombard
3 years of bottle age, and it was outstanding to begin with.

Velvety chocolate with vanilla, extra sweetness from maple syrup but mostly balanced by medium high bitterness. Bourbon largely disappears. Surprisingly light body, porter not stout.

Very dry, moderately bitter, chocolate with cinnamon, could use more creaminess and a touch more sweetness for my taste.
