MI Pilsner (MI P1LSNER) Bonjernoor
Pretty good. Nothing spectacular but fits the bill as a clean and refreshing Pilsner-ish beer.

The description says “citrusy and tropical notes,” and that is true. This has pretty good flavors, and I’m glad it’s fresh. It is missing the depth of flavor and mouthfeel of a really good hazy IPA though.

KBS Hazelnut (2022) Bonjernoor
An amazing aroma experience…like a very high-end Belgian hazelnut chocolate. Simply divine. The flavors are excellent as well, but it feels like it is starting to come apart a little bit. Two years might be the limit on this one.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Bonjernoor
This 2022 KBS is much better than the older ones that I checked in over the last few months. Good initial bourbon aroma and traditional KBS flavors. Enjoying this one tonight.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Bonjernoor
Not aging very well. Pretty flat and syrupy. Maybe it will improve as it warms, but I need to finish these. GO LIONS!

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Bonjernoor
It’s stout season! I’m slowly working through my KBS from 2018-21. Finding that these don’t age super well is a disappointment. IMHO, they need 6-12 months to take the edge off, but then they start to degrade at some point. Looking for the magic window.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Bonjernoor
Happy Halloween! Followed a 2019 KBS with a 2022 KBS. Both were pretty good, but the 2019 seemed a bit watery. These seem to start breaking down after a year or so now…kind of like the Dragon’s Milk I’ve had the last few nights.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Bonjernoor
Creamy, sweet, heavy chocolate fudge and a hint of hazelnut. An altogether beautiful dessert.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2022) Bonjernoor
It was a good year. Fairly sweet, with coffee and chocolate. Syrupy texture. Happy Birthday to me! Thanks Chris!

4 Giants Tropical Treasure Bonjernoor
Very hazy-almost pulpy- with citrusy sweetness that is almost ‘un’beer-like. I wish it tasted more like beer, but this will appeal to a lot of people.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2020) Bonjernoor
Warm chocolate chip brownie, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, and pecans. Pairs very well with this 2 1/2 year old beer…which was amazing by the way.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Bonjernoor
More than 5 years old, and I think it has reached its limit. The flavors are still there, but the beer is thinning and doesn’t stand up against a 2020 or younger KBS. Still pretty good though.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Bonjernoor
Bottled on 8/11/21, this held up really well in my beer box. Cinnamon and vanilla are forward, with plenty of chocolate and coffee presence as well. Definitely tastes better to me now it originally did.

Chocolate Cherry KBS Bonjernoor
More coffee than cherry in the aroma, but good cherry flavor works with the KBS chocolate notes really well.

Bottled date 10/31/22 - Its been a long time since I checked in a plain-old regular KBS that hasn’t even been aged for six months. Very good coffee, chocolate, some vanilla, and roast. Still a top-notch beer.

Stronger BBA aroma than most of this year’s releases. Hints of Maple coming through even though it’s still cold. Turns to brown sugar as it warms. Definitely a sipper. Initially a strong taste of sweetness and alcohol in the finish. Not much else yet.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2022) Bonjernoor
Pancakes at 10:00 pm? Calls for a a breakfast stout, and this is one of my favorites. Awesome to be able to share it with Ethan.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge (2022) Bonjernoor
Very good. Rich chocolate, nice roasted malt, some nutty flavor. This will get even better in a few months.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019) Bonjernoor
The flavors in this can’t get any better. Rich and full. The body seems to have thinned out a bit. Still a fantastic beer. I still have two more, but I won’t save them too much longer.

Almost a cider aroma, but the flavor is all Belgian. Not as sweet as I expected with the agave, in fact finishes pretty dry. Apple, banana, and clove notes abound in the yeasty goodness of this brew.

Saw this and had to try it. The mouthfeel is wonderful, but the flavor profile remains the same. The bourbon seems a bit more prominent than I remember. The coffee, chocolate, and vanilla are present, as is that “new KBS” overtone. Warming nicely so far.

Fruity aroma, persistent white foam head, ample carbonation, but very light haze. Lots of hop flavors in the mouth, but not much bitterness. Sweet malt presence.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa (2021) Bonjernoor
Still not what I’d like it to be. The bourbon is coming through more than before, but the cinnamon and powdered cocoa still seem overbearing.

KBS Hazelnut (2022) Bonjernoor
Why did this variety take so long?!? The incredible blast of dark chocolate and hazelnut hit me as soon as I started the pour - a beautiful and familiar aroma. The flavor still has notes of a young KBS, but after three months it is starting to mature.

Beautifully clear red and brown beer with aromas of cherry woody maple syrup. Sips almost like a cordial.

120 Minute IPA (2021) Bonjernoor
Starting cold, this has a sweet malt aroma with flavors of alcohol and sweet fruity esters. As it warms, I’m finding more sweet fruit aromas and some caramel flavors. A bit later, more aroma, this time of honey. Seems to get more boozy as it warms, too.

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Bonjernoor
Aroma of cinnamon, cocoa powder, and light vanilla. Translates deep into the flavor as well, with strong cocoa presence that tends to take over. Definitely needs aging so the KBS base and BB aging will (hopefully) come through.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Bonjernoor
Part four in my on-going, completely unscientific experiment on the “new” KBS. Bottled on 2/22/20 and served at about 62°, the sweet bourbon aroma took my breath away as soon as the cap opened. Roast, coffee, and chocolate play so well together.

When I tried this the first time, it was on tap and it surprised me. It blew me away. It is still good, but not the 4.75 I rated it then. Combining four Imperial IPAs creates a very stable beer that is a Jack of all trades. Really good, not quite great.

Very good. Not the depth of flavors that CBS brings, but it doesn’t profess to be all that. Plenty of roasty goodness, vanilla, maple, and...ahhhh....oh yeah BBA! This beer was made for the barrels. Beautiful!

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Bonjernoor
Almost ten months old. I let this one chill a bit longer than usual (52°). Right now I’m getting tons of bitter chocolate flavor, but very little aroma. Some roast and coffee, but not much bourbon. I’ll comment more as it warms.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Bonjernoor
Kendra twisted my arm for a taste, but it wasn’t a tough thing to do. Besides, I got to use my new glass. Such an enjoyable beer!

A big Oktoberfest that has a little bitterness at the end to balance out its malty sweetness.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Bonjernoor
The aroma by itself is reason enough to try this beer. Fudge and coffee with hints of maple fit si well with the traditional KBS. I’m already imagining what this will taste like in a year or two.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2020) Bonjernoor
It’s getting better with age, but still falls just a bit short of the older iterations. It is still a very good beer. Better than most.
