Chocolatey and bourbony, nicely round taste. Maybe slightly too toffee sweet.

Aroma has cinnamon. Taste cinnamon, dark coffee, vanilla, cocoa as promised. A bit spicy kind of coffee roastiness.

Nicely hazy. Taste is heavily oaty, pretty raw hoppiness. Dry and light bodied. After warming up and settling down, has a sweetish candylike taste. 3.33.

Aroma has strong black coffee that turns almost spicy. Tastes creamy full and nice, doesn’t have the coffee nearly as intense as in the aroma. Nice combination.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2017)
Aroma has burnt sugar and malts, a hint of spices. A thick smooth body. Tastes full, chocolatey, slightly coffeeish. Probably much more subtle and round than when fully fresh, but I like that comfortable aged quality this carries. 4.40.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)
Vintage? Aroma has nice maple. Velvety, creamy and cocoaish, sweet, mapley, slightly ashy. Doesn’t taste as good as it has at its best, but it’s quite suitable for this smoky old school pub. 4.30.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2019)
Aroma has nuttiness and chocolate. Tastes chocolate, cocoa, sweet. Somehow I get some woody nuttiness here that I don’t remember before. Balanced and nice. 4.25.

Taphouse is great for having one or two Brown Ales on tap regularly. This is solid, light body, also has a fresh fruity hoppiness that makes this kind of cross to Black IPAesque territory.

Cloudy, thick, oaty. The mouthfeel manages to be very fluffy and soft, but the basic tastes suffer a bit here. It’s halfway to an excellent hazy IPA though.

First time from draft. Delicious red berries on the aroma. Taste has good tartness and the berries coming through distinctively through the balanced body that has hints of vanilla. This is very subtle and delicate, almost too easy in the end. 4.39.

The crispy tartness and the pleasant fruity and acidic qualities work out perfectly. Very drinkable.

Very malty aroma. Tastes thick, malty, bready. Sweet but not too sweet, there’s some hoppiness to balance it. Solid old school beer. After a while the sweetness starts to push through a bit too much though.

Fruity and soft, it’s surprisingly rounded out and mild on the tartness. Almost too easy and watery, but a good change for the more heavily tart ones. 4.25.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018)
Dark auburn color. Aroma has toffee, fudge. Tastes thick, fudgey, mapley, comfortingly boozy, wonderful stuff. One of the most pure comfort beers I could imagine. 4.25.

Clear coppery look. Aroma is malty. Taste is full, malty, bready, sweet. Almost too full and thick, could use a bit more bitterness to balance it. Not bad but was expecting a bit more.

Dark amber. Aroma is deep, malty, amber aleish, boozy. Tastes smooth, woody, leathery, bourbony, boozy. Strong and powerful, brutal but delicious. 3.85.

Never rated it without a vintage before. Classic sour aroma. Tastes earthy, balanced, clean, light and so nice.

Subtle cherry aroma, even some cinnamony touch there now for some reason. Tastes very pleasing, all around balanced cherry 🍒 sour.

Aroma has fresh good fruitiness. Tastes fresh, sweetness that’s turning to candy, but nice. Don’t catch the sourness that some reviews point out, but maybe the BCBS tasting dulled my senses.

Delicious dry and fruity tartness. Fresh and crisp, quite different from what I remember the 2017 being.
