Not bad but if I’m honest it’s too sweet and watermelon is extremely subtle. Could have done better. Prefer drier and more watermelon rind forward.

Hazy and juicy but not too thick. Slightly sweet with a mildly bitter bite on the back end. Good one for summer days.

Awesome spiced chocolatey coffee goodness. It’s like taking KBS and soaking it in chocolate with some chili’s floating around for a lil heat. Very well executed and will be seeking out more.

Cranberry forward, oak and orange peel as it warms. Slightly tart with a nice malt backbone. Nice brew.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023) Murphy
This takes me back to the good old days of finding a release event and waiting in line for hours just to get a pour. Decadently rich layers of chocolate, coffee, maple and vanilla all perfectly melded together none overpowering the other.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2014) Murphy
Damn tasty for a nearly 10 yr old brew. Coffee and chocolate dominate along with barrel, burnt sugar and a bit of dark fruit. Cellar temp.

Super solid variant here. A lot of lizard of Koz but not quite as sweet and sans maple. Sweet tart blueberry chocolate coffee and velvety smooth. Definitely worth seeking out.

Mothership Series Barrel-aged Marvelroast Murphy
Amazing as always. Many tears filling this pour however since Founders just announced closure of their Detroit taproom today. As a MC member since they opened (and before at GR) I’m like a kid who just learned he didn’t make the cut for BB.

Lemony finish tames a bit of an otherwise bitter woody hop forward brew. Good starter brew for a fun day but wouldn’t likely do again as I prefer more rounded flavor and less bitterness.

Creamy roasted malts with copious amounts of quality coffee. Just enough sweetness. Tasty brew

A little sweeter and chocolatey than regular KBS but with a hint of cherry. Not medicinal at all like cherry can often make a brew.

Phenomenal. This one checks all the right boxes. Vanilla galore, coffee, chocolate, sweet malts. So good. Definitely one of Founders best ever!

Barrel Aged Golden Stout Murphy
Tasty sweet malts, chocolate and vanilla. A mild hop bite but well tamed by the malts. Like a dragons milk white but more flavor.

Curmudgeon Old Ale (2015) Murphy
Molasses, brown sugar, oak, fig, biscuit malt and a bit of breadiness. This is the beer that originally got my attention to the brewery 12+? years ago. This vintage is holding up very well with age.

Lizard of Koz 6 Year BA Murphy
Intensely rich chocolate and sweet tart blueberry meld into a decadent dessert brew aged to perfection.

Smooth and creamy with hazelnut on the forefront but very much lacking in depth. Not bad but wouldn’t gravitate toward this one. Very much reminds me of basic Guinness.

Good peach flavor to counter what I would normally classify as an off putting amount of bitterness with Double Trouble - but a bit too malty for me at the moment.

Nice bakers cocoa flavor onto the base porter. Bitter sweet not dessert like.

Pineapple sour and little salty just like you’d expect. Easy drinker

Backwoods Bastard (2014) Murphy
Revisited a little over a year later. Aging extremely well. Burnt sugar, vanilla, barrel, tobacco. A standout for the style. I don’t gravitate towards this brew much any more but when I pick one up it does itself justice.

Nice caramel sweet chocolate coffee, rich dark malt. Biscuit malt galore - no surprise. It’s tasty and ABV sneaks up on you because it drinks so easy.

If I didn’t know any better I’d think this was barrel aged Sumatra brown. It’s a bit richer and creamier but the adjuncts are really nuanced and need to be a bit more pronounced. Was hoping for more vanilla. Tasty just could be improved.

Bottle Shop Series Highball Drifter Murphy
Excellent take on a cocktail in a beer. Adjuncts are well balanced yet pronounced. Cherry, vanilla and orange mingle well in a malty creamy barley wine base.

Cream ale with subtle sweetness and coffee. Drinkable but left wanting more from it

First bottle from 2021 release. Just as good as the draft version I had last. Sweet maple, vanilla and malty goodness.

This brew still impresses. Thrilled to have it available on my bday dinner! Ironically Koz made it for his lil sis’ bday. Nearly a 4.75 in my book.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019) Murphy
This year seems to age very well. I prefer KBS fresh but this one doesn’t disappoint 2 years later.

Maple Barrel Aged Frangelic Mountain Brown Murphy
Forgot to check in other day. Pleasantly surprised that the barrel aging seemingly took care of nasty artificial hazelnut flavor with original frangelic I had on draft when first came out. Smooth, sweet hazelnut coffee and roasted oaky malts.

Bitter front end is totally masked by a malty finish. Sweet and caramely with a nice hop bite. This is dangerous. Long time since I wanted to try this brew and doesn’t disappoint.

Wow, pleasantly surprised. So much better than howler I had in 2018. Sweet maple vanilla and malt dominate, roasted malt and barrel flavors take the backseat.

Nice roasted malts, coffee, caramel, toffee. Oaky. Very easy drinker.

B.A. Vanilla Cherry Ale Murphy
Imagine if Frootwood met Backwoods. It’s a smooth caramel sweet malty scotch ale with some oak characteristics and subtle but present cherry vanilla. Drinks very easy for the ABV.

Founders Cherry Cordial Stout Murphy
Very well executed- sweet chocolate and roasted malts with a nice tart cherry undertone.

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Murphy
Outstanding chocolate fudge flavor. Coffee takes backseat to the fudge but it’s there. Can drink this for days.

Great way to elevate cerise - bourbon soaked oak chips and orange peel work great.

Holy Mole Mexican Stout Murphy
Tasty and smooth on nitro. Peppers are not overdone - a nice mild heat at the backend. Spiced chocolate, loads of roasted grain and creamy body.

Second review - can this time. Like it much better this time. Nice tart and mildly sweet vanilla cherry ale. Smooth and creamy. Nicely done

Awesome brew. Coffee, vanilla, chocolate and sweet milk sugar. Medium to thick body. Creamy and smooth. Great balance.

Tasty berry and jammy like mouthfeel. Salty and a lil sweet. Tequila comes through nicely. Great sipper.

Amazing how well this has held up. Hops tamed by malt bill and abv. Expected a boozy mess but somehow stlll balanced just without he fresh hop front end.
