Devil Dancer (2014)

IPA - Triple

Founders most complex, most innovative, most feared and yet most revered ale produced. Massive in complexity the huge malt character balances the insane amount of alpha's used to create this monster. More IBU's than any brewery has documented, more than you would believe and dry-hopped for twenty-six days straight with a combination of 10 hop varieties. Dangerously drinkable and deliciously evil. We dare you to dance with the Devil.

These were mediocre in 2014. It was odd but not a drain pour.

Oxidation. Malts are coming up a little more. Drinks like a Barleywine. Get a fair amount of cardboard.

Not sure if this is a 2014 or a 2015 but it's old. Completely forgot I had this. Also completely flat. Quite bitter. Boozy. Didn't age well, but that's expected. Drain pour. Keeping original rating.

Basically at 8 years old this has become a hoppy barleywine (as one of the previous check ins pointed out). Definitely way past itโ€™s prime ๐Ÿ˜†

Mellow and smooth, alcohol content tastes higher than advertised.

Its a barleywine, now, but it's a tasty barleywine. Aged into a very good barleywine. I'm grading it as that. I don't think anyone who aged it this long would be expecting a big hoppy triple ipa.

๐Ÿคฎ awful. Why did I still have this? ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ old old old pruny flavors

Still as aggressively bold as it was fresh. Strong sharp but kind of sweet hop resin and burnt caramel bark

pro tip: do not age this beer for years then expect to enjoy drinking it.

From the back of the fridge. Malty with a hint of hop in the back.

Cellar deep dive. Definitely more of a barleywine than an IPA. Its developed surprisingly well.

Onions are gone, so is respect for founders. The body here never achieved BIL, so that's a let down.

Amazing how well this has held up. Hops tamed by malt bill and abv. Expected a boozy mess but somehow stlll balanced just without he fresh hop front end.
