Sang Bleu (Camerise)

Lambic - Fruit

Previously called "Camerise Lambic" Lambic blend with blue honeysuckle, or haskap, berries.  For the past two years, we’ve been making a fruited blend with Camerise berries in small quantities. These berries are slightly sweet with a beautiful acidity.  We didn’t have to look very far for a its new name... a blue fruit that makes a blood-red beer: Sang Bleu. Our friend Ammo has outdone himself once again, creating a superb new label to go with its new name. A word from the brewer: Sang Bleu is powerful and very fruit-forward, but still maintains a nice, mellow balance between acidity and astringency.

Dry, restrained serving of raspberries/ blackberries, mild vinegar and slight bitterness. An exceptional Lambic.

Intense berry flavor. Surprisingly dry. Light tartness and just a hint of funkiness. Nice complexity, like a dry red wine.

Like fresh raspberries on steroids with a tart finish. One of the better lambics I've had

I realize I am risking a tongue lashing by giving it less than a 5. Let’s see.

Experimental it is but it works wonderfully. Lovely red berries with quite a spicy part as counter balance.

An experimental lambic that deserves to be in Cantillon's core range. Love this very fruity (haskap berries) one!

Petit problème dans le fût ? Le goût est là, déconcertant, sympa, prononcé. Mais ça racle la gorge de ouf. Pas forcément agréable après 3/4 gorgées 😅. A retester

LCI - Somehow this checkin was missing. Excellent fruity lambic with haskap berries.

Malt Does More

Zwanze at Perry’s. Loved this one in April. Dense bruised red color, minimal lacing. Lovely jammy nose and palate, with a tannic dryness and mildly vinous character in the mouth toward the finish. Delicious. 4.45

Unique. Bit thicker bodied than other Cantillon at this strength. The honeysuckle really came through to me, alongside an interesting salinity that left the mouth dry. Bit of oakey barrel too.

Disagreeing with my previous check in on this. It is f’ing phenomenal! Made with haskap (blue honeysuckle). Powerfully fruit forward, tannic and oak notes to a pleasant level, slightly jammy but finishes dry
