dark roast on the nose. light bodied, bitter, creamy, carries lingering hoppy finish. this is strongly-steeped cold brew with no sugar or cream. also — what does the bottle cap mean?

The bottle cap says “FO 10/26/16” so I’m guessing this is a 2016 vintage… not strong in coffee and hop flavors muted but dark malts still there

If I read the cap correctly, this 6 yo brew is good for another 4 years. Had a LOT of sold chunks but has largely liquified. Very tasty 😋

Delicious aroma of coffee, burnt sugar and resiny hops. Pitch black, ivory head. Sweet caramel coffee and dark chocolate flavors, piney hop bitterness. Great balance of flavors. Bittersweet finish.

Peppery aroma, slightly medicinal. Roasted, herbal with greenery.

I usually don't enjoy coffee in beer but this is still hopforward and rich in all aspects. Brewed in Stavanger, aha, det är lite norsk Nøgne stil över hela paletten och baletten. Black IPA is one of the hardest to brew successfully, IMHO.

Didn’t really taste like an ipa, more like a classic stout. Slightly bitter but not hop bitterness. Coffee and chocolate

Should I have saved for breakfast? I wanted a black IPA. Thank goodness for the local pizza place that carries really interesting beers. Somewhat drying — or is that my mouth tonight?

Pours a black color with a small tan head. Has a roasted malty fresh hoppy chocolate and coffee aroma. Roasted malty hoppy bitter licorice and chocolate flavor with hints of coffee. Has a roasted malty hoppy bitter finish.
