Fermented, sweet, huge cherry hit. Dark sour cherries all the way through. Like warm summer, with over ripe but fantastic fruit

Chocolate and cherry pulp aroma. Loads of silky syrupy cherry with dry cherry pit tannin, finishing with roasted malt and more caramel malts

Sour cherry compote generously drizzled over a slightly burnt chocolate chip cookie nose; taste is cherry compote with over-backed double chocolate chip cookies crumbled in; there’s then some nice cherry skin/stone tannin bitterness & clotted cream fudge.

Lots of sour and cherry in that Doppelbock! The proper way to drink it (otherwise it’s too damn sweet, unless it’s Schlenkerla).

Chilled to death. Normally too cold for a dark beer but given how tart it is cold is probably a good thing to ameliorate the sharpness. To be fair the flavour offers nice complexity and is most definitely sour cherry with hints of earthy raw cocoa.

Strong smell. Strong taste in both cherries and dark malts. Unfortunately short aftertaste, only partial cherry taste remains.
