French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

Starts with a solid cinnamon and maple syrup nose with a hint of bourbon barrel aging follows up with notes of vanilla, cinnamon and maple syrup.

Perhaps a tad sweet. Needs to be more room temp to get full flavor. Malty underneath

This is good and need to revisit another bottle, maybe a little warmer. A lot of flavor and very adjunct forward. Wouldn’t mind some more barrel and base beer coming through, though it’s not sickeningly sweet either.

A lot better once it warms a tad. Smells amazing. I could use a bit less asjuncts and more barrel.

i shouldn't have had helldorado BEFORE this. this would be a solid beer if it didn't pale in comparison 🤣 light, cinnamon, a little savory. would make an eggscellent breakfast beer.

Tastes exactly like what it sounds like, but IMHO it should have been a separate, unique beer. No hint of the awesomeness that is Backwoods Bastard.

A scotch ale with vanilla, Cinnamon, and maple. Fun.. :) it tastes like it claims.. but maybe a single beer for dessert.. not a night of 6 beers.. :)

This one is not for sissy's has an odd finish like maybe inferior flavoring.

At first I was thrown off because I was expecting it to taste like a stout. But once I got over that I really enjoyed it

Enjoyable but nearly falters over the too sweet line. French toast a fully accurate description.

The cinnamon and maple combined with the malty scotch ale give it more of a dirty chai taste than bourbon vanilla French toast. Prickly mouthfeel isn’t great either. Finish is maple all the way. Not bad, just a bit muddled for the price point.
