Delicious balance of bourbon, coffee, maple syrup, and chocolate-fudge. No single adjunct overpowers the stout or steps out of line to steal the spotlight. My favorite of the many versions of the classic breakfast stout.

The cinnamon and maple combined with the malty scotch ale give it more of a dirty chai taste than bourbon vanilla French toast. Prickly mouthfeel isn’t great either. Finish is maple all the way. Not bad, just a bit muddled for the price point.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS)
Still a nice stout, but missing some of the bold adjunct flavors it had in the early years (maple, coffee, chocolate).

So damn good! Takes be back to a Mackinac Island shop, ordering the fudge by the pound from the glass case. A mouthful of decadence. My favorite or all the KBS variants. Sadly, my last bottle. Hoping they’ll do this one annually!

Boozy beast even 5 years later, but oh so drinkable! Caramelly, buttery, no longer overly sweet. Wished I’d aged a 6 pack instead of just 1 bottle.

Abrasive, harsh, obnoxious amount of cinnamon. Not sure if there is vanilla or cocoa there because it is buried by the tablespoon of cinnamon in every sip. Way to ruin a perfectly good coffee bourbon beer.

Malty with notes of black licorice. Not quite living up to the two originals but a nice throwback nonetheless.

Far better with a couple years on it. Rum still dominates but is no longer like doing a shot of Bacardi.

Curmudgeon’s Better Half (2018)
Drinking incredibly right now! Perfectly balanced, maple syrup and candy sweet bourbon. Only complaint is a touch thin. But that’s nitpicking a beer that’s far better after 2 years than fresh. Really impressed!!!
