French Toast Bastard

Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy

Backwoods Bastard gets the 4-star breakfast treatment. Our bourbon barrel-aged Scotch Ale is introduced to maple syrup, cinnamon, and sweet vanilla for a decadent brunch-inspired sipper. Breakfast for dinner, anyone?

I won't buy this again. It is probably good for someone who likes a sweeter beer..

Truth in advertising. I've never drank French toast before. I'm not usually a fan of cinnamon in beer, but the maple mellows it out and complements it nicely.

Actual closer, lol. It's the AM, so French toast lands. Tons of cinnamon and maple.

Not sure I’ve ever had a scotch ale but this was an incredible introduction. Love brown ales though!!!

Taste just like French toast. Sweeet. Syrupy. Maple. Vanilla. Cinnamon. Bready. Boozy.

Definitely get the French Toast. Barrel aging is lost in the sweetness and cinnamon. Better as it warmed, still too sweet for my tastes

A bit too sweet even for me. Lots of maple and vanilla.

It’s sweeter than maple syrup. Smells delicious but not something I would drink again. - @ Founders in Grand Rapids. Incredible spot. Rating my be lower due to buyers remorse. So many great beers and this counted as 2. 11.% ABV!!

Just as it sounds. Solid but as it should be, sweet. Can only drink one.

Definitely a journey in flavor. Accurate, hits every note of French toast - bourbon - maple - barrel - booze - barrel with a wide swinging range between sweet and smoky.

Sweet with lots of maple and caramel sweetness, some cinnamon spice throughout, brown sugar, medium plus to full bodied, sweet malty and spiced lingering close.

I'm looking forward to making a big breakfast and instead of making pancakes/waffles / French toast I will whip up a big batch of biscuits and gravy and have this as the nice maplely goodness to pair with everything else.
