KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

Michigan didn't invent old-fashioned fudge, but it was perfected here. We pay tribute to this time-honored tradition with KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge. By amplifying the rich chocolate notes of KBS using Mackinac Fudge coffee, then adding maple syrup and aging it in oak bourbon barrels, we've created a bold new take on our barrel-aged classic - one that could only have originated in Michigan.

I'm not a big fan of stouts but could taste the chocolate and bourbon well, very boozy but not in a harsh way, I appreciate that it tastes like what is advertised :)

Huge fudge in the aroma. Coffee and chocolate as well. Taste has coffee, fudge and chocolate with the bourbon and oak coming through in the finish. Definitely my favorite KBS variant. The additional fudge flavor puts this slightly above CBS. 4.75/5

Smells like a fudge shop. Chocolate and coffee notes. Smooth. Not boozy. Very good.

A fantastic weekend breakfast beer - sooo chocolate fudgey with bourbon right behind...I’m happy that the maple and coffee take a back seat. This beer rates much closer to a 5. Must find more...

My first taste and I immediately get many layers of flavor. Up front there is creamy chocolate, coffee and a vanilla toffee kind of flavor. Finishes with a touch of bitter. This one will really develop over time.

Much like Kbs this is a toothy malt-ride with a lot of oats and big grain and mouthfeel, followed by the Kentucky Bourbon. Pretty tempered sweetness which I like, and a mild note of maple and some nuttiness. Balanced, smooth, maybe needs a tad more barrel

Founders stouts all have this wonderfully fudgy quality. When fudge is in the name, well, you can guess what that means ;)
