Vorige (Founders Mas Agave) weg gezwelgd uit miserie. Shame on you, Founders. Quality above quantity is een kwaliteit die meer en meer brouwers uit het oog verliezen. Deze nemisis gelukkig wel weer top.

A very well rounded barleywine. More flavorful and expressive than I was expressing…and from Founders I expect quite a lot. Deep, rich, dense and clean.

Semi sweet, malty and slightly bitter start, with a lightly roasty and hoppy finish. Kind of a mix between and Solara or Scotch ale and a porter. Very complex flavor.

Definitely an American style barleywine with high hop bitterness. Flavor profile is reminiscent of Arrogant Bastard ale.

Roasted malt, pine, burnt sugar, hops and bitter. Very hoppy barleywine and more like a black fruity IPA with nice bitterness, and if I rated as that it’s a good one.

Definitely more enjoyable on draft than the recent bottle release. Hearty without being abrasive. Just glad I’m getting some flavor vibes.

Caramel, wood, alcohol, good aftertaste. An enjoyable barley wine.

For a mass produced non-BA barleywine, this hits. You get a roasty malt, a piney hop flavor almost like a west coast, then a dark porter / stout mouthfeel and aroma. I’d give it a 4.1.

The bitterness of the hops is rivalled by the sweetness of the beer as well. Has a dark color but a light taste. Very IPA like but with more malt.
