Smooth, fruit notes right out of the bottle. Would age nicely.

Good but not "Barleywinish" for me. I'm a huge Barleywine fan and have a gold medal for mine so I know a little about it. Founders is one of my favorite breweries. Maybe the next batch will elevate to the next level.

First Ever Barleywine... no clue of what it to taste like. Was pretty sweet but tasty

I need to try more because strangely the issue is too little flavor and I doubt that

Bitter licorice. Wormy nose. Need to try again as a first beer, not following another IPA

Very roasty and oaky with quite a bit of hops. It's a little strange, but it's not a bad beer. I'd have it again, but not often.

Very roasted notes that over powers it. This one my have to sit for a while

Yes those are dog diarrhea pills in the background.

Dark hints, deceiving For a barleywine, pretty decent though!

Insanely bitter, odd roasted note, pine, sticky malt, Founders yeast, wood, incredibly astringent. Medium body, light carb, bitter and slightly roasty aftertaste. Yikes, this is tough.

It’s not what you expect a barleywine to be. But it’s unique enough to stand out well. Not as sweet as most barleywines and significantly more hoppy. Founders may be macro these days but their quality seems to be going back in the right direction.

Would rate higher if kit considering style. More like a stout or strong ale than anything else I would pick.

This one's growing on me. Initially, more hoppy on the nose and palate than I expected, even for an American style. As it warms, more of the sweet caramel and fruity notes are present. It's still pleasantly bitter, with a lingering herbal hop presence.

When did Barleywines get hijacked. This is entirely too much hops for the category. Call it what it is. A quadruple IPA. Anything other than barleywine. Because this ain’t it. It’s Founders and it’s good. Just not in my wheelhouse.

Super tasty. Dark fruit with bittering hoppy pine flavor over a full and malty base. Exceptionally smooth for the ABV. Super drinkable, great beer.

More bitter than I prefer in a barleywine. It's still good, but I prefer a more malty sweet barleywine with a lightly bitter finish.

I feel like barleywine and a black IPA had a baby in my mouth! We became friends no Nemesis here.

Was pretty skeptical because I am not a huge barleywine fan, but this is tasty. Malty and sweet. A little bitter on the finish. The booze is hid remarkably well. Quite good for the style.

Somewhere between a barleywine and a black triple IPA (I.e. wtf). Definitely different and definitely interesting. I think I like it...

As Jack Terricloth always says: if you're bored and you're listless, you just need a good nemesis.

Tastes kind of like a black ipa, not a barleywome, and I don't like black ipas

Definitely between styles. Dark for a barleywine. Roasty sweetness with a bitter hoppy finish

Disappointing. Backwoods is a better Barleywine than this. And it’s an imperial scotch…

Malty, hoppy, not exactly what I expected, but still pretty good.
