Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

The big 750ml bottle that’s been sitting in my collection for 4+ years. Coffee has faded enough to pick up great chocolate and vanilla notes. It’s still there a bit in a mocha like flavor. Aged damn well and wish I had more of these.

Big and boozy. This might have not aged as great as I had hoped. Little funky

So much different than the almost tasteless 2019 bottle I had a few weeks ago. Coffee and chocolate are dominant. Really good.

I’d say it’s a bit past prime, more cola and coffee than fudgey chocolate, but it’s still an undeniable heavyweight.

Pure, clean dark chocolate, toasted coconut, coffee up front and midway; turns caramel & cappuccino on the finish, and just so sweet, sickly cloying mess. Totally the opposite to the garbage BBA stuff Ontario breweries are turning out.
