Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)

Stout - Imperial / Double Coffee

What we’ve got here is an imperial stout brewed with a massive amount of coffee and chocolates, then cave-aged in oak bourbon barrels for an entire year to make sure wonderful bourbon undertones come through in the finish. Makes your taste buds squeal with delight.

Not actually for drinking today but not horrible from the couple tastes I had; turning peppery but was a great base for the BBQ sauce.

17-3, 4yr 4mo o. Complex, dark roast coffee. Notes of creamy chocolate, fiery wood character and bitter vanilla. Dad and I are enjoying! Aging pretty well yet!

At about 4 years old, I'd say this is peaking. Loads of coffee, chocolate and vanilla with a much reduced boozy heat and bourbon hit. It still lets you know it's a big beer, but it's very drinkable now.

Still working on the two cases we bought at the LCBO. Think we're down to 6 or 7 bottles now. Still going strong, though more of a rock solid base stout now that most of the adjuncts have faded.

Found an extra at the back of the fridge! Coffee is pretty much gone. Almost strictly chocolate and bourbon. A little bit of raisin/caramel. Still killer.

Found this old fella on the shelf, no point waiting any longer. The occasion? I baked cookies. Chocolate and coffee have dropped off. More of just a smooth bourbon barrel imperial stout now. I prefer fresh

Weather’s finally cooled down for a bit so what better way than to solo dome this bad boy? This is what I hoped my first KBS experience had been like. Smooth bourbon & dark chocolate nose with strong coffee & a stronger bourbon bite when drinking. Noice.
