I bought this at a random liquor store in Indianapolis in 2013. This beer is always a hot mess, fresh. But, with some age on it, it really starts to shine like the barleywine it actually is. Figs, toffee, raisins, bitter, pleasant boozy warmth.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2013)
Cellar clearing. OG score stands, but it has definitely faded a lot with time. Last bottle from the first batch of KBS I ever bought. Second to last bottle of Founders in the cellar (still a CBS down there). I’m getting sentimental over here!

OG score stands. Last of this beer, which I at one time had a couple of cases of (varying vintages). 🫡 It used to be a favorite, but Founders fell off my radar years ago. #cellarclearing

This stupid bottle of beer moved across the country with me 9 years ago. Now I am forced to drink it. OG score forever, but the quality has certainly…errrr, declined.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2015)
Drinking pretty old beer on a Tuesday. Last of the 2015s. Probably the last year I ever had to “hunt” for bottles of this. I moved this cross country from Ohio to Oregon, so it tastes like anxiety mixed with the sweaty trunk of a 2009 Honda Civic.

Canadian Breakfast Stout (CBS) (2023)
Mixed feelings on Founders in general these days, but I couldn’t resist trying the newest vintage of CBS. Because I lack convictions. Probably. Also, dang it, it’s still pretty delicious.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018)
Last of this vintage in the cellar. Friday night time is the right time.

FLN. Pumpkin Beer Party 2023. Fact: I do not care for pumpkin beer.

Last bottle of the 2016. Has held up pretty admirably, and mellowed in a pleasant way.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2019)
Last bottle, but no where near the oldest I still have sitting around. I don’t have a lot of love for Founders these days, for a myriad of reasons, but this has aged admirably. Still mostly bitter coffee and chocolate. Hint of booze.

A disappointing split, and I went in with low expectations. Still fun to revisit every couple of years, though.

De Garde 10th Anniversary Celebration #16. Felt like an appropriate way to end the night. Forgot to take a pic, so here’s my cat.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
Last of the 2017s. It’s fallen off a good amount. Pretty sure I still have a 2013 and/or a 2014 floating around as well. Along with a 2015. D’oh. Original score.

A tad bit cloying, but ultimately as advertised and pretty enjoyable.

From yesterday. Brew for New Avenues #1. Lambic blend with blue honeysuckle, or haskap, berries.

This used to be a favorite circa 2013/2014. I have one bottle of 2016 left down in the cellar. Still drinking pretty strong. Burnt sugar/toffee/molasses.

Drinking nicely. Chocolate syrup and coffee.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
Vacation house cellar clearing. This is still pretty good, and will probably get better as it warms. Sweet and roasty, pleasant heat.

Another stash/cellar beer. Well past its prime, sadly. Original rating stands.

Not aging great, sadly, but far from unpleasant. Still a good amount of caramel and toffee, and the faintest hint of heat remains.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
I apparently checked one of these in a couple of months ago. Whoops! Ummmm…still delicious!

Another one I brought back from Ohio, but it appears it may have gotten some distro out here in the PNW. It’s solid. Bitter up front, a solid malty/caramel finish.

Saw this and figured what the hell. I hardly ever drink Dogfish anymore, and was intrigued by a new release. They’re a craft brewery I definitely cut my teeth drinking 10 - 12 years ago. All of that said, this beer is just fine.

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2017)
Aging nicely. Coffee is mostly gone, but there’s pleasant cocoa sweetness left in its place. A hint of barrel and booze. Annnnnnnnnd goodnight!

I used to go bananas for this beer. So much so that I definitely had a full case of this vintage alone at one point (after this, down to 5 bottles). I still enjoy it, but I’m not as in love with it as I once was and haven’t bought even...
