Frootwood (2017)

Fruit Beer

We took a crisp, light – bodied cherry ale and hid it away in oak barrels that have held both bourbon and maple syrup. After a lengthy stint, it emerged a changed beer, blanketed in notes of warm vanilla and earthy sweetness. The wood proves itself the star of this beer, adding depth and taming the tart cherry while the maple imposes a velvety texture that lingers for not a moment too long.

Bought one bottle to try. Never could bring myself to crack it. Just did. Not as bad as expected but glad I don’t have more.

Better than I expected. The maple and bourbon play well but I am not crazy about the base beer. I know it would make it a completely different beer but this would be very good with a hint of acidity.

Held up so well. Isn't a style I would want to drink often but tart and tasty . Barrel compliments and takes bite off . Definitely sweet sipper .

Another one I forgot I had. 4+ years aged and it’s pretty tasty. Sweet cherry while keeping a light bourbon barrel flavor. Interested how a fresh version tastes.

Cherry and maple syrup had me a little worried this was going to be a mucky sugar bomb, but the flavors are very subtly woven together. This is a really pleasant experience!

I think the maple was very little but getting an after taste from the Bourbon that I experienced with all 2017 KBS.
