Lizard of Koz

Stout - Imperial / Double Pastry

This one is near and dear to our hearts. Brewmaster Jeremy Kosmicki wanted to make the birthday of his little sister, Liz, a special one. So he did what he does best and brewed a stout using a few of her favorite ingredients: fresh Michigan blueberries, rich chocolate and vanilla aged in bourbon barrels to round out those beautiful flavors. Liz was floored and we think you will be too.

Great 4 years later. 2016 aged beer. Nice. Held great flavor but vanilla dropped out

Not as good as it once was... blueberry and vanilla has fallen off. Founders definitely needs to make a new batch!

Base stout is good. Overboard on the sweet blueberries.

Energy drink front end with a casual chocolate aftertaste. Mellowed out with aging.

The nose is so inviting. I think I like it more initially and less as I drink it. Really nice vanilla notes, some bourbon, and tons of blueberry. Does get medicinal after a while. Okay, better than 4 years ago, but still quite a lot. Gotta split many ways

Just like 4 years ago today when I watched ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ (great movie) with my parents while my Dad and I drink Lizard of Koz. Lots of blueberry and some chocolate. 🦎

Freshly crushed, perfumed, minty blueberries and chocolates on the nose. This has to be more fruit than stout, after several years of aging I think the blueberry has mellowed to a point where it goes nicely with the sweet vanilla, spice and milky choc.

Malt Does More

Deron’s last bottle of this, and it has been interesting to chart the changes in this beer over the years. Nose is big blueberry and chocolate, with hints of the medicinal. Palate follows, and there’s some nice rich aged-stout chocolate, hints of anise,

Aged since 2014. I hear the blue berry has mellowed. This is a high rating given my history with fruit stouts. But aromas of licorice, hint of berry. Chocolate body, quite tasty, hint of the bourbon barrel. Finish slightly cough syrupy but not overwhelmin

Opened the bottle and it foamed over: the smell in the glass is difficult to describe... aggressively abrasive? Blueberry auto shop?

2017 release. Revisiting this 3 years later, this is still horrifically sweet and cloying with a medicinal blueberry flavor. Blueberry robitussin, anyone?

Very first thought was dessert is served!!the blueberry comes through so nice and is well rounded by the chocolate. Second thought was making an ice cream float

A solid beer on a cold January night. A very sweet stout. Has a flavor of a chocolate cream blueberry cordial candy. A bit thin, and not that creamy mouthfeel I expect in pastry stouts, but still good. And it was free!

Boozy, barrel aroma w/ blueberry syrup. Flavor of chocolate covered blueberry/ raspberry boozy candy with light vanilla pod. As it warms up, the berry really comes through; very sweet. Cheers to fancy steak dinners at home!
