Philip Van Gorder

My biggest fear is dying before I get to drink all of the beer I have acquired in my cellar

Velvet Rush Van Gorder

Founders nails it as always. Tastes exactly as described. Vanilla, coffee, and vanilla, all balanced. Might be a just a touch too much milk sugar for me but still overall delicious

French Toast Bastard Van Gorder

Mouthwatering nose, it is spot-on French toast. It’s sweet but hits the mark. Barleywine was a great base for this, though not sure how well it’d age given the adjuncts. Delicious desserty nightcap

Utopias Barrel-Aged 120 Minute IPA Van Gorder

Big and chewy and somehow not too bitter at all. Barrel notes make nearly every beer better. Enjoyable sipper on this 4th of July

Kentucky Breakfast Stout (KBS) (2018) Van Gorder

Like biting into a bourbon-coated chocolate bar, even after 5 years (exactly)

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Van Gorder

Last check-in holds true, hasn’t fallen off much in a year and a half. Enjoying by a fire on a chilly March Madness night

Backwoods Bastard (2016) Van Gorder

Had a nice multi-year vertical here, thanks bro. I guess I have the same bottles as you. No surprise the older of these ‘16/‘19/‘21 were better. Really comes together after some time in the bottle

Frootwood Van Gorder

It’s cherry but it’s not medicinal. Pretty light overall, not too tart by any means. Vanilla and maple are just barely evident. Would be great paired with some cheese

KBS Espresso Van Gorder

Stout night inspired by Glenn T. and Daniel V. Kinda hitting the spot post-dinner, even at room temp ☕️

Nemesis (2021) Van Gorder

Quality barleywine, no surprise. Lots of bitterness right now

KBS Cinnamon Vanilla Cocoa Van Gorder

Mexican hot chocolate without the heat. Cinnamon makes for a soft and smooth mouthfeel. So tasty

Raison D'Extra Van Gorder

Big chewy raisin. ABV is hidden masterfully. An excellent cellar beer. Bottling up a bunch of barrel-aged homebrew stouts

Lizard of Koz Van Gorder

The nose is so inviting. I think I like it more initially and less as I drink it. Really nice vanilla notes, some bourbon, and tons of blueberry. Does get medicinal after a while. Okay, better than 4 years ago, but still quite a lot. Gotta split many ways

KBS Maple Mackinac Fudge Van Gorder

Liquified fudge. Most chocolate I’ve had in a beer in ages, wow!!

Marvelroast Van Gorder

Bit sweet. Coffee cocoa milk sugar make for a desserty golden ale. Good, but agree that 1 bottle is enough for a sitting. Pretty full/filling. 4+
