It’s a tad unbalanced, the barrel aging adds vanilla and bourbon to a nice Oktoberfest beer. It’s the first I’ve ever tried.

Don’t know what to make of this one. Lots of bourbon which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Malt heavy aroma of molasses, bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, light coconut. Tastes like a slightly more carbonated old ale. Sweet malt bomb with touch of barrel & bourbon. Smooth for abv. I’d still prefer a Backwoods Bastard, but fun & tasty!

They nailed it. Imagine taking a glass of marzen and pouring in 2 shots of bourbon. Mix it together and you have this. Verdict: marzen doesn't age well in Bourbon barrels. Very boozy. But A+ for the attempt. Why the hell not? Cheers, Founders!

Barrel aging makes this style of beer pretty darn delicious.

I'm torn on this. The barrel is nice, but all of the subtle complexity of a Marzen are gone. I like them experimenting like this, but this one fails to have an identity and falls a little short.

Now that is a different kind of marzen! Bourbon “smoothness”! Darn near perfect

I think the folks at Founders got Märzen and Marzipan, because I'm getting a whole lot of the latter! Very boozy, which masks a lot of the flavors. While I was intrigued by an Imperial Märzen, there's little in this taste profile that yells, "Märzen!"

Almost a cherry flavor with the barrel age. Malty, sweet.

Credit for its barrel presence. They nailed that. There is no semblance of an Oktoberfest in any stretch of the imagination.

Point elevation because of how much more drinkable this is than the typical representative of the style. I love Oktoberfest and I want to love the beer but the sweet Maltiness taste too much like hangover typically.
