French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022)

Scottish Ale

Backwards Bastard gets the full fledged breakfast treatment! Our malty and rich bourbon barrel-aged scotch ale is introduced to the essence of smooth Maple, warm cinnamon, and notes of sweet vanilla for an incredibly decadent brunch inspired sipper. One taste and you'd swear you were digging into your Sunday morning french toast. Breakfast for dinner anyone? What is something off my bottle

It's like getting hugged with maple syrup and cinnamon, but not like sickeningly.

Unique, complex but will never replace Backwoods Bastard in my cellar. This may be better if it ages for a few months.

Vanilla cinnamon maple crazy.. not much barrell til last couple sips. Adjuncts and barrell don't mix as well. Might be better aged few months or year.

Decadent. Truly complex with all elements of that flavor are present and perfectly blended. Top notch effort.

Pretty much nails the French Toast thing. I kinda thought the cinnamon would get lost in the vanilla and maple, but it's very well balanced.

First hit is of that eggy custard in the middle layer of a chunk of french toast. Cinnamon and vanilla wave hits next, with the maple syrup and boozy barrel at the end. Packs a wallop, a true sipper.

Crowd was 50/50 on this. The artificial adjuncts mask the Backwoods base which is tasty in its own right. This was ok if a bit sweet. Much prefer regular backwoods

I like it. True to taste. Generally I only want a stout or porter, but this has good boozy flavor.

Pumpkin night at the neighbors last night, one of the few drinks or food w/o pumpkin flavor was this beer- maple and cinnamon flavors but a bit bitter. Taste didn't improve even after letting it sit for a bit. Still a decent barrel aged stout.💪🏽🥴
