French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022)

Scottish Ale

Backwards Bastard gets the full fledged breakfast treatment! Our malty and rich bourbon barrel-aged scotch ale is introduced to the essence of smooth Maple, warm cinnamon, and notes of sweet vanilla for an incredibly decadent brunch inspired sipper. One taste and you'd swear you were digging into your Sunday morning french toast. Breakfast for dinner anyone? What is something off my bottle

I havnt had the original in awhile but hold it to high regard, this is a nice fall beer but is a little to pastry for the style.

Very decadent and sweet. I like it but it sits so heavy.

A lovely French toast nose TAsting: punched forward maple, ,a LOT of maple, cinnamon, sugar. Very sweet, this finishes with an odd,off note on the back that I don't like...

French toast, bastard! As advertised. Booze just keeps it from the cloying level sweet.

Tastes like the French Toast Crunch cereal they used to make. A little too artificial for me.

Maple-forward but not cloying. The maple is thin followed by sweet pecan, creamy vanilla, rich caramel, medium/light roast coffee notes and toffee. Had to adjust the rating down because the sweetness becomes a bit too much after half. I miss BA Backwoods.

Crowd was 50/50 on this. The artificial adjuncts mask the Backwoods base which is tasty in its own right. This was ok if a bit sweet. Much prefer regular backwoods

Disappointing, especially because I like regular Backwoods. Slight chemical sort of taste. Regular Backwoods please.

A little heavy on the maple and a little burnt tasting on the backend but enjoyable. Go Army! Go Navy!

Nice start, harsh aftertaste that I don't love against the French toast flavor. Want this on a brown vs a scotch ale.

Definitely can't avoid the cinnamon and vanilla. Curious if this will mellow a bit with more aging.

Tasty, but clearly extremely artificial. It lists both the maple and vanilla as extracts which is evident Even before knowing. Thanks Edwin G.
