French Toast Bastard (Barrel Aged Series 2022)

Scottish Ale

Backwards Bastard gets the full fledged breakfast treatment! Our malty and rich bourbon barrel-aged scotch ale is introduced to the essence of smooth Maple, warm cinnamon, and notes of sweet vanilla for an incredibly decadent brunch inspired sipper. One taste and you'd swear you were digging into your Sunday morning french toast. Breakfast for dinner anyone? What is something off my bottle

Haven't had a Dirty Bastard in a while, much less a variant. This is a damned fine variant. Tastes like french toast!

Kitchen smells like syrup but the sweetness is mellow in the background. Heavy on the malts and booziness as a scotch ale should be. Fun seasonal variant but still prefer backwoods

The last of the four pack that I bought. A lot of founders beers are really hard to find here in Colorado, so it was quite a treat to find this and enjoy it over a few snow days. Lots of maple and cinnamon, good for sipping to ward off the chill.

Unbelievably thick aroma and the ingredient bill is all there. Cinnamon and vanilla are very forward. Doesn’t seem overly sweet. Alcohol burn follows each sip. Very well melded while keeping each of the distinct flavors noticeable.

Delicious. Liquid french toast packed with maple. Nice malty flavor too. Not perfect, has it's flaws.

Heavy vanilla & syrupy without as much sweetness or thickness.

This tastes like French Toast with maple syrup, which is one of my favorite breakfasts, even though I don't do it often due to the sugar content. The maltiness of Bastard provides the toast, with Bourbon, cinnamon, vanilla, & maple adding the rest. Solid.

That really is Mom’s French toast on Saturday morning! Maple syrup right up front and strong, lots of cinnamon sugar after that, and then the egg-based bread at the tail end. Amazing!

Tasty. Scotch ales aren’t really my thing, but this is decent. Certainly, as advertised!

Great nose, big and sweet. Flavor follows with sweet maple up front. Darker look and flavor, more dark brown than the classic bastard mahogany. Easy drinking when cold, warmed up to some bittersweet toasted malts that distracted.
