When this Barleywine is fresh (or consumed within a few years of its bottling date) it has a potent boozy kick to it. The extra years of aging have smoothed out all the booze & now all I taste is the fig & date flavors, which makes this way too drinkable.

Have not used year variant in a bit, and may get merged, but thought worthy. Tasting great right from the cellar.

Final drink of day 2 of the Beer Advocate eXtreme festival...! Very tasty! I look forward to them bringing this flavor back this year.

Not as sweet as the 2017. Big date flavor.

Deep cut from the cellar. Not sure it held up as well as I’d hoped. Lost most of the fruit notes. No rating because this bottle has been in my care for years. Can’t blame the brewery. Still drank it all!

Boozy nose like cleaning fluid. Taste of figs, raisins, and dark fruits that taste like absolute CRAP! Maybe 6 years was far too long to age this swill. Terrible replacement beer in the Extreme Beer Fest 2021 box. My condolences to anyone else......

Every Christmas at my house Santa gets an Olde School; Fig and Date Barleywine from Dogfish with his Italian fig and date stuffed cookies. Merry Christmas everyone!

Wow, my oldest fridge aging project. Surprised this lasted so long. Still a bit carbonated. Super smelly still. Plums, grapes, very dark fruit. Cloudy look. Still so much sting in the taste. A very solid beer

This is still my favorite barleywine, still hold up fantastic, lots of fig and raisins, great carbonation, lots smoother and easier to drink than fresh.

Mellow, boozy, honey, almost smoked maplewood, a bit of old school flavored candy youd get a cracker barrel

Bottled on 10/27/14, almost 6 years ago. I let this one sit too long. I think its peak might've been 2 to 2 1/2 years ago. Lots of fig up front and throughout, not much date, a little boozy and oxidation.

No label and Beth drank this. My opinion is this held up well. Slight hop, dark fruit, and smooth.

Tastes exactly like the 2016. Glad I didn’t try this fresh...
