Palo Santo Marron

Brown Ale - Imperial / Double

An unfiltered, unfettered, unprecedented brown ale aged in handmade wooden brewing vessels. The caramel and vanilla complexity unique to this beer comes from the exotic Paraguayan Palo Santo wood from which these tanks were crafted. Palo Santo means "holy tree" and its wood has been used in South American wine-making communities.

That's bad boy is a power beer that hits the pallet real nice. Has some sweetness with a whiskey taste at the end

What a pleasant surprise when I found this in my reserve beers at home. One of our all time favorites and it went great with grilled kielbasa at home on our deck on a great evening

2017 Vintage / Woody, Schwer, Massiv. Macht in der Nase viel Radau, kommt am Gaumen aber ganz soft an.

Cellared for 5,5 years under very unforgiving conditions. Very smooth, but no wood aroma as I remember was very prominent when I tasted it fresh

2019 throwback. Smells more “figgy” then I recall and the flavor is much different from when it’s fresh. That weird wood flavor is no longer the star and the rest of the beer comes through nicely. Great semi-dry finish so it’s an easy drink.

Vintage 2015, slight loss of carbonation yields an anemic head, dark opaque ruby, caramelized sugar and smoke aromas, surprisingly zesty body, dark stone fruits, leather, tobacco, smoke, woody tannins, dry tannins and raisins on the finish

So smooth. Does not taste like 11 or 12%. I wonder if this is still the original barrel. It could be my taste buds, but I think it has lost a step.

Aged 3 years! Sweet malt, vanilla, and brown sugar bourbon nose. Fluffy, full mouthfeel with great coating. Lovely long finish with lots of caramel flavor. ABV is well hidden. Such a loss that this one is discontinued!

Bottled in 01/2016, aged in bottle until 12/2023: still incredible, the smoky woodyness has softened with time. The sweetness is still present, rich, thick, malty, roasty. I may have over-aged this beer, it’s excellent when fresh, but I still love it.

On the enormous side of the ale spectrum. Plums, raisins, chocolate, bourbon in the aroma. Fabulously sweet taste with the oak kicking in for a smoothly dry finish--though less so on the dryness as the beverage warms.
