120 Minute IPA (2016)

IPA - Imperial / Double

Too extreme to be called beer? Brewed to a colossal 45-degree plato, boiled for a full 2 hours while being continuously hopped with high-alpha American hops, then dry-hopped daily in the fermenter for a month & aged for nother month on whole-leaf hops!!! Our 120 Minute I.P.A. is by far the biggest I.P.A. ever brewed! At 20% abv and 120 ibus you can see why we call this beer THE HOLY GRAIL for hopheads!

Teetering a 5 over here. 8 years later this thing is delicious. Slightly sweet, but packs a boozy punch

120 Minutes spent shredding today. An undisclosed amount of minutes lying in the snow.

Interesting. Hoppiness faded a bit (doesn't taste like 120 IBU), soft. Honey notes up front, turning to mild pine resin, then finishing on white grape/raisin. I'm really digging the layers on this one.

First beer of 2024. Bottle from 2016. Boozy aroma. Almost no hop bitterness. Mostly malt sweetness, raisins, dates, currants. Very much like a barlywine. Light carbonation. Not bad for an 8 year old beer!

Hoppy strong and a bit aggressive. Thankfully doesn't leave a deep after taste but feels like a bourbon barrel age. Doesn't work quite as well for an IPA for me. Not for me

Ages super super well, this is my favorite beer to age. Sweetens out but balanced, absolutely no burn. Layers and layers of flavor. Did in vertical with 2017 and 2019, and 2017 was my favorite. Compared to the 2017 it’s on the downslope so good to open

Super smooth. Borderline sweet. Could almost see drinking this warm as a spirit more than a beer.

Horrible as an IPA, but fantastic as an American barleywine :) Sherry, brown sugar, light citrus, long warming finish. A great beer to hide away for 5+ years

See previous reviews of various vintages. Not sure if this is the '16, '17 or '18 as the print wore off the neck. Whatever year, didn't age well & kinda flat so no rating.

Can't decide if letting it go longer works be better or not. But non ideal aging temps pushed me into it. Not disappointed.
