Raison D'Extra

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

A bigger, bolder version of our Raison D'Etre. This is a bulbous brown ale brewed with a bunch of malt, brown sugar and raisins.

Boozy sweet strong and dark. A little bit of a bite, otherwise would’ve been 4.5.

Another one that is coming across Hot. Must be something with the aging. Still damn good!!!

The booze is very strong. I’ve had some this style that are smoother but higher abv. Maybe if it aged even more?

Wow massive big malts alcohol heat long into the finish. Low carbonation but it does not need it. Massive dark fruit dominates the palate with alcohol heat. Needs more time to mellow. Still tasty.

I think cellaring since 2014/15? Anyhow, it's damn good - tastes like an oatmeal raisin cookie. No abv burn whatsoever.

Tasty, but almost too much of a good thing.

Aged 2 years in the cellar. Booze has settled down nicely. Heavily malt forward, toffee sweetness, and a little dried dark fruit character- mostly figs, but also some raisins. Nice alternative to all the big stouts. Would buy again—not at full price tho89

Horrid. Too strong on the raisins and the bourbon barrel tasted sour. Worst ale I've had.

Very malty and heavy, more than I would like. The raison taste doesn't feel very present, but the brown sugar and body do. Feels a bit "much"

Woah. Surprisingly smooth for a higher ABV. Many flavors on the palate.

Old ale kind of quality for sure. 16.5%?!! Didn’t realize that when I started. But she kicks like a mule. I’m digging it!

Finally trying this relic of craft beer. An odd beer for sure and I can see why people don’t like it. Super boozy and earthy, and not quite barleywine enough for me to love it. Enjoy it for what it is

Per the name, it definitely has a raisin vibe to it. At 16.5% ABV, it's my hardest hitting beer to date. Drinks very smoothly
