Raison D'Extra

Belgian Strong Dark Ale

A bigger, bolder version of our Raison D'Etre. This is a bulbous brown ale brewed with a bunch of malt, brown sugar and raisins.

Had to check how this is coming along. Very smooth and balanced. Delicious raisons, not too sweet. Delicious 16% abv brew.

Big booze, sweet raisin kick. Watch out with this one, it's big and goes down easy

Nothing pairs as well as grilled cheese and tomato bisque soup! Added some liquid smoke because I’m feeling fancy

Strong dark fruit nose and taste. The raisins, sweetness, and booze really comes out. This is the best strong ale I have ever had.

Last time I had this was before Untappd. Lovely mix of brown sugar, raisins, dates & dried fruit, warming finish. Thanks, Wade P.

Aged about 5-6 years. Big, rich, sweet, and boozy. Raisins and brown sugar all over it, giving an almost bourbonesque note to the big body. Finish has a subtle bite to it.

Bottle ages fantastically as mine was time-stamped 12/13/2018. This has huge notes of brown sugar & raisins both in flavor/aroma.

16.5%. Aged for nearly 5 years (!), bottled on December 20th, 2018. Brewed with an apparently “obscene” amount of raisins and brown sugar. Dark, full, boozy, sweet potent raisins, tons of brown sugar, molasses, hot caramel, flannel, woods, and fire.

This bottle is from 2018, and has aged amazingly well. Such a boozy mess, with rich caramel and raisin sweetness, it’s totally for sipping only, and only after it’s warmed to cellar temps

(2021) Deep mahogany brown w/ sentiment. Fast lace. Massive raisin and prune on the nose. Brown sugar. Brute yeast. Molasses. Tastes of malty brown bread. Candied raisin. Plum and cherry. Booze and brandy. Tobacco. Finishes strong, boozy, with raisins.
